I am not saying that makes it bad or wrong, but if a photo is to be published by a sports outlet the thing that all the photogs are looking for is to see the player that is the center of focuses eyes. So the best technical aspect to the photo would be to have taken it from up field and see Harline's eyes. Also most of the photogs don't like the ball in mid-air. This is really frustrating to me as I think it adds a cool effect, but I have been emailing the local AP photog a decent amount and sharing some of my pics with him. He basically dismisses them right away as a missed shot if you have the ball in mid-air.
Okay, so going by the standards set by SI and other sporting news publications, it strikes out. Good to know.

I still think it is a technically excellent photo.

That 2006 shot is incredible. I love the sea of red in the background and the collective "oh shit" gasp erupting out of their mouths.

It is an excellent photo. Just not technically excellent.

I suppose it depends on the blowout. Max Hall's turnovers in last year's Utah game played a huge part in the final result. The scoreboard said that the game wasn't competitive (and it wasn't in the fourth) while the yards (BYU actually slightly outgained Utah) and first downs told a different story.

Utah vs. TCU this year was a totally different story. TCU doubled up the yards and tripled the first downs. That's a beatdown that makes you question the nature of your team. Though the 2008 TCU game wasn't as horrific as the 2009 TCU v. Utah game, it was still pretty bad (but the only beatdown in terms of both score and yardage that BYU has suffered since Bronco's first year as head coach).
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

If I were ranking the pain of recent losses to BYU, this would be my list, from most excruciating to mildly rash inducing:

              2001
              2007
              2006
              2009

2001 was the worst because it really seemed like Gary Crowton was going to take what Lavell did his last five years, and inject it with some sort of violently executing offense, obliterating everything in its path. That's why the Magical Hawaiian Death Turf beatdown felt so good, by proxy.

2007 was horrible because it was OVER, because it was our chance to show that Mendenhall couldn't win without a senior QB, and because, after 16 straight conference wins, the BYU dickheads were in full force.

2006 was bad, but we all knew that was just a dang good BYU team.

2009, mild irritation in the inner thigh region, but sort of "meh." I'm not trying to rub anything in, but I think the SUGAR BOWL is Balm of Gilead, and will be for at least another seven months, perhaps even eight. I hear BYU fans talk about 3 out of 4 against the Utes, and all I hear is "we beat them every year they didn't go to the SUGAR BOWL in the last four years."

I'm not trying to cheapen the BYU wins, really, except only maybe a little or slightly more. I'm just glad to have something on which to fall back.

I wouldn't trade Utah's last four years for BYU's even if you threw in Ken Jennings and an annual pass to the creamery. Even with the testimony building wins over Utah.

Because of your all's (and Max Hall's) conduct since the TCU game I don't think I can bring myself to pull for BYU in its bowl game. I hereby announce that I will be pulling for whatever team plays BYU. See what you've done?

I hope nobody feels bad about SU's turn here. This is exactly the way it always should be.

I had front row seats on the 50 yard line behind the Utah bench for that game. A cousin of my wife is loaded and hooked me up with the tickets. It went dead silent in that section.

I remember 2006 and felt bad for my utes for maybe a nanosecond as I refected on what an amazing ball game I was able to watch in person and I was over the loss after that. that game was simply amazing.

I was happy for Beck as well.

I could feel this coming and even PMed several people trying to warn them, trying to stem the gloating. I thought this was the year, but alas, I was wronged.
                          Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Clearly the cover from 1993, illustrates your point well. What are you a lawyer?
