Honesty test for BYU fans

Figures a Ute wouldn't recognize a National Championship trophy. Basically, the 2004 and 2008 seasons for Utah are like the 1996 season for BYU. You had the best record in the country and a good ranking but nobody thought you were the national champs. In 1984 some people disputed whether BYU was the best team in the country but they were the unanimous national champs.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostA Christmas candy dish?

It seems to me like there is poll for Ute fans in there somewhere but I'm too lazy to make it.

I will treat this as a serious question.Originally posted by cougjunkie View Postwhat ranks higher your hate for the honor code or the dumbing down of the schedule?
I actually do hate dumbing down of the schedule. It is like buying tickets to the the Utah Ballet and then find out the performers will be from Jane Swans 12 year old ballet class.
I don't hate the honor code. I dislike aspects of it and the system related to it. I really, really dislike the opinion that it is some type of celestial value system that the whole world admires. I feel the same way about Bob Jone Universities honor code when they promote it as the value system that everyone should aspire to.Last edited by byu71; 12-01-2009, 10:33 AM.

SU sorry to break this to you, but honestly Utah's success even last year seems distant in my memory. BYU's great seasons and lousy seasons in the past are fresh in my memory, but the only thing related to Utah that means anything to me are the games with BYU. Boise State bothers me more than Utah, just because they're on TV all the time and talked about in the national spotlight much more.

When did all of the national goodwill for Utah in light of their 2004 and 2008 BCS bowl wins evaporate during the 2009 season?

Here you betray your true self. Boise is getting more press this year for obvious reasons. No MWC team has ever gotten as much press as Utah did after the Sugar Bowl, including an ESPN front page story declaring Utah no. 1 and articles declaring it the king of the "mid-majors". Both Utah and Boise were undefeated last year and guess who went to the SUGAR BOWL. Boise drops out of the press like a rock as soon as it is out of BCS contention.Originally posted by jay santos View PostBoise State bothers me more than Utah, just because they're on TV all the time and talked about in the national spotlight much more. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I could be wrong, but I disagree. I don't think Utah's anywhere close to where Boise is right now and has been the last decade with respect to national recognition. Granted, it might be partially due to ESPN/MTN issues. Utah to me in terms of media attention is annoying, but only on the local level. I never hear anything at the national level. Is Utah as a program recognized any more than the Miami OH team Rothlisberger played on?Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostHere you betray your true self. What has BYU's schedule been dumbed down from? At what lofty level did BYU's schedule once reside that it no longer does?Originally posted by jay santos View PostI'm with 71 on this. This is 1A and 1B on my hate list. Hard to say for me which I hate the most.

SU,
If I wrote an Appellate Brief for your lawsuit, would you want to proofread it before proceeding?
To that end, STOP TRYING TO INVENT RIVALRY SMACK ON YOUR OWN.
For the last time:
When you have an idea, please please please for the love of [big bang evolution] run it past an actual Ute fan first, let them correct it, and then and only then may you proceed!

Due to the push poll aspects, I had to go with "somewhat" on both, since my displeasure is greater than zero, albeit less than the regret I felt for having selected oatmeal over cracked wheat this morning.
Having graciously responded to your questions, let me ask you one:
How much does it bother you that BYU is currently 8-2 versus Utah in the major sports, going back to John Beck's drive to end the game in '06?

This coming from a poster who seemed to many posters mentally unstable as a result of Saturday's game and Hall's remarks. I forgot more about trolling BYU fans than you'll ever know.Originally posted by Fiyero View PostSU,

Why don't you go back to smearing posters who are the bulwark of your own brother's precious board? When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
