In days gone by, I'd have come back with some comment. Like I said, I'm tired of the back and forth.

If other Ute fans want to attack other Utah fans for thoughtful posts, they will be shown for what they are. (Boylen, as an aside, I apologize for bashing you. 99% of it is good natured. However, I'm sorry for the past and will try to be more pleasant in the future.)

The only person that I can control is me, and to some extent, my kids (for a few more years, at least.) I mean, why react to a BYU fan that says that Utes are poor students, alcoholics and philanderers. In my case, none of that is true, so why react. I don't need to argue my case or prove myself to a person that means nothing to me.

I used to love to listen to talk radio during the lead up to the game. The last few years, I've rarely listened. I've ignored the rivalry smack on Cougarboard and Utefans this year. Most of my free internet time has been spent here and on Utezone. I do feel like this place definitely takes a turn for the worse this week, but it's years behind CB or UF in that regard. It's still pretty low-key here.

Funny thing is that the most conservative mormons I've known in SLC (not CougarTown, mind you) aren't byu fans but are Utes.

I have nothing against the U, in fact, our family is far more red than blue (extended). Good luck, Utes, but I hope we kick your asses.

It sounds like you don't want a rival at all. I think you're out of luck on that front. Rivalries are an integral part of what Urban Meyer always called the 'pageantry of college football.' That's why almost every UU/BYU jokes are resets of jokes used by rivals throughout the country.

Out of curiosity, in the past when you would read or hear the rivalry smack, did you take it personally?

Sir, have you become so jaded that you assume my "nice post, PU" was insincere? It really wasn't. I like any heartfelt paean to one's favorite team, even if it's a rival. Please note that the nastiest response came from a Ute fan.

I did not see your response to Port because once I saw the name Roger Reid in your post I stopped reading. (My bad.) So I wasn't referring to you. And you're right, SU should not post when he's in a vile mood.

Just my opinion, but I think the intensity of this rivalry is a bit overstated. I've always thought of it as good fun, a time to have some laughs and talk some junk. It's rare that I've seen it get really ugly.
