All that stands between two consecutive undefeated regular seasons for Alabama is the Tigers at Jordan-Hare.

This will only be the 10th time these two teams have met in Auburn (they played exclusively in Birmingham from 1904 to 1988), and Alabama is 2-7 there, losing three in a row. Also, Nick Saban is 0-4 on The Plains (0-3 as LSU's head coach, 0-1 with Alabama).

I'm glad this game is on Friday and not Saturday. I've only been able to watch three other Alabama games live and uninterrupted.

I think the early spread is Bama -13.5, and I like them to cover. They should be able to exploit that soft and depth-less defense.

One can only hope that the denizens of Tuscaloosa will continue with their righteous living and that the prayers of many young Tider boys and girls will be answered and in the words of Bill the Butcher we will "festoon our bed chamber with (auburn's) guts." Figuratively speaking, of course.

We do owe that cow college a few spankings after they trashed us 6 years in a row. Time to keep the shoe on the right foot and run it down their reddernecked throats with INgram in the 4th quarter.

In getting ready for the Iron bowl this week I just read the book Another Season: A coach's story of raising an exceptional son about Gene Stallings and his son John Mark who are pictured in my avatar. Johnny had down syndrome and though I knew of his story before I did not know of the details.

It is because of Johnny and how he touched his family and the Alabama community that Tuscaloosa has some of the best disability services programs in the nation. When I lived there I knew about the facilities but did not know the reason.

Johnny passed away last year and so I say Roll Tide Roll to him and hope we can win another Iron Bowl for him, as he was, by all accounts the world's greatest Tide fan.

I'll have to check that out. Coach Stallings and John Mark are terrific human beings (from what I know of them), and they are another in a long line of individuals who have given the university a positive image.

A fantastic video about an outsider experiencing the Iron Bowl (and any college football, for that matter) for the first time. One of my favorites.

Not a good start for Alabama.

Nice play call by Auburn. He made the defenders miss.

Auburn is pulling out all the stops. double passes, reverses, a QB draw. Bama would be lucky to be down 10-0.

This is working up ike Utah-Bama. Bama does not play from behind very well. They aren't built to do it.

Props to Auburn but I wish they hadn't resorted to the Boise State playbook; i.e. every other snap is a trick play.
