Unanimously voted NCAA Player of the Year? Causing a nationwide hysteria around the player/program? I'd say that's quite a bit more special than getting to the Sweet 16.

No one except you and your compadres will remember you went to the sweet sixteen in 2015. So yea, to a Ute fan maybe a sweet 16 for the Utes is more important.

However, in the sports world most would agree with the BYU fans excitement over player of the year more than they would with the Utes excitement over a sweet 16. Without googling could you name the other 15 teams in the sweet sixteen this year?

He beat out the MVP of the eventual Nat'l Championship team. Super weak- I see your point. Oh we also got to the sweet 16 that year but guess what? Nobody really remembers that because there were 15 other GD teams every bit as "special." Maybe contrary to what your argument is, BYU actually does get to the tournament regularly, so a pair of wins isn't all that exciting.

OK start over-- Are you high? POY is INFINITELY more exciting than a Sweet 16 appearance. A couple twitter mentions? How about Sports Center every night, nationally syndicated interviews, SI spreads, yes- twitter mentions by the likes of Kevin Durrant saying Jimmer's the best scorer in the world, a name check on a Lil Wayne mixtape, Deron Williams and company front and center at the Marriott just to see Jimmer, stupid Jimmer songs on youtube going viral, etc. etc. etc.... but yes, the sweet 16 appearance is what stood out.

I think the most disappointing thing here is that it was just such a strong crop of players that Delon Wright and his incredible efficiency just quite couldn't get his due with regards to the NPOY award. A true travesty.

True, he was a very good player.

On the other hand it is fortunate for the Utes the field of 32 was so weak the Utes got into a more important achievement as they see it, the sweet sixteen.

So basically you care more about individual awards than team success, no wonder you would rather lose 94-90 than win scoring in the low 60s.

Your point stands because I didn't say Kemba Walker? Obviously I knew who it was, and, despite your best efforts to paint the field as unmemorable, I notice you remembered who it was, for the record.

As for your last point, I don't know where you get a generalization like that. As far as I'm concerned there is no dispute that NPOY is a far more significant and memorable achievement for a program than making a Sweet 16 appearance. I can't believe you're even taking up the gauntlet on this one.
