Maybe that is what goes on at ufn, I just don't know. There is no doubt that success has brought us a huge number of fans who lack perspective. Still, BYU fans are just more susceptible to really high expectations than most. Even at our most optimistic, Ute fans haven't ever printed tee-shirts that say "quest for perfection" or started talking national championship after a single game. Sure, we are schizophrenic too, but you guys just have further to fall it seems to me.

I think we have less on the line this year in terms of the rivalry. If we lose we are 5-5 for the 2000's against BYU and basically have won the games on our shcedule this year we were supposed to win and lost the ones we were supposed to lose. No no will view this season as a disappointment based on having lost to BYU. But if BYU loses it is 4-6 against Utah and has dropped a game that on paper it should have won. People are already disappointed with this season and this will be the final nail in that coffin. Had you all beat us last year that would have stung and stung very bad. This year, meh. (I still think the Utes win a close one, we'll see).

that this one is going to be brutal for the Utes. I'm not talking trash on this, just reporting what my instincts say. The hype surrounding the Holy War will prove overwhelming for young Wynn[e] and the Utes will collapse around him. The offense will be inept and Jan will set up permanent shop in the Ute backfield. The Ute defense will soon tire of chasing Harvey Unga all around and they will betray their coach by packing it in early. By the end of the 1st half televisions around the Salt Lake Valley will be turned off in frustration and Ute flags will be lowered. To those who may be frustrated by the frankness of this post, I apologize but I am compelled by conscience.

BYU's key to success will hinge on Anae's playcalling. Will he allow Unga to run, run, run or will he elect to throw when the situation clearly calls for a run and as a result, Max get's sacked, fumble or interception.

I like you just the way you are and have stereotyped you in a way that is wholly unrelated to my post above. I doubt that you are part of the out-of-whack-expectations crowd. But you can remove all doubt by just confirming that you didn't at any point own a "Quest for Perfection" tee-shirt.

I agree you have less on the line. What you have on the line is an opponent wobbling and an opponent wobbling presents a great opportunity to really do some damage.

If you win this year, the fine BYU fans who scream I would rather lose with integrity than win without it will either get drown out or get you sing their song to a crowd.

Integrity, attendance, tradition, recruiting, smack will even become more meaningless.

While not a must win for the Utes, it certainly is a great opportunity to inflict some heavy program damage.
