It probably has more to do with Unga's recruiting story and his decision to go to BYU. You know, the one where he puts Reynolds and Whit both on the spot by saying he's going to go to the rival school. Reynolds congratulates him and wishes him luck, and compliments the program they are running up at the U. Whittingham throws BYU under the bus, and tells him he's making a huge mistake. Unga promptly chose to attend BYU.

The story goes something like that.

These kids have terrible pressures on them in the recruiting stage. Unvariably when a recruit chooses the other school, the fanbase will make up some reason to take it personally "I don't blame him for not choosing our school it's just the way he did it".

I like Wide as a RB. He is a very good back, but I would trade him for Unga without hesitation. I dislike Harvey Unga. I think he is an ass and I hope that he leaves BYU after this season, gets drafted, and never plays a down in the NFL. Despite this dislike, I can recognize he is absolutely the better player. He is a back that you can give the ball too 25-30 times per game.

It isn't just because he told Kyle no. It is him bringing up the story in the first place and repeated the story over and over again. I also think the story is either complete bullshit or Unga isn't very smart. Of course, Whittingham and Reynolds are going to react differently, the situations were not the same.

Not to mention, how are we to know that Unga's story is even legit. He knows that he can keep telling the story and no one on the Utah side is going to ever answer it, because it will make them look bad.

Exactly he is the first one to tell us to go easy on Marty Johnson, or Marquis Wilson. But he holds a grudge against Harvey because Utahs coach made an ass of himself and could not handle rejection from a 17 year old kid.

I have never said to go easy on Marquis Wilson. In fact, I seem to remember being torn to shreds on utefans for stating my opinion that Wilson got off easy. Also, I don't bring up any of Unga's past indiscretions anymore, because I don't think it is fair considering he has gotten over them. This doesn't mean that I like Unga. I'm sure there are several Ute players that you dislike that I think are good guys.

I don't think Unga is an idiot. I think he knows he can say whatever the hell he wants about his recruiting and Utah can never answer it. He tells this story to twist the knife in Utah and trying to do some damage.

I agree that I made comments about Unga that I shouldn't have made with his high school indiscretions. I admit that I was wrong with that and there is a reason I haven't brought them up since the rivalry game in 2007 and why I won't bring them up again.
