Reminiscent of the early mormons in Missouri. If they were convinced that they were going to get persecuted due to the truth of their church, then their actions toward their neighbors make sense. If they cared at all about changing anybody's opinions, they failed epically, at least according to some contemporary accounts that I read in the special collections room at BYU.

I've already expressed that there's no reason to think that the gospel accounts have any relationship to reality, but even so they don't portray Jesus as one who particularly cared about changing minds.

Now, maybe he shouldn't SAY anything about it, but to call his gut-reaction insecure is pretty stupid.
Every coach in the world faces that. The team is not living up to expectations. We're ranked lower now than we were going into the season. BYU fans are not being tough on Bronco. And this season the chatter level of angst towards BYU coaches is relatively low. You're acting like the fans are rioting in the street. That's not what's going on.
