I know that in my limited business experience, I have found those principles to be pretty important. But hey....that's just me.

A saavy leader learns to use his subordinates to the betterment of the organization.

When productivity falls off and he goes through a losing season or two, he is going to wish he had made more of an effort to amass goodwill.

I have always given Bronco the benefit of the doubt. He appeals to the far right base with this stuff not realizing the consequences. It sometimes reminds me of the far right in the republican party telling more moderates in the party what dirt bags they are. Pawlenty fell into the trap and now is backtracking. Cater to the Beck's and Limbaughs and you turn off a lot of your supporters.

Reads like a parody. I got a good chuckle over it, anyway.

In my opinion, this comment by Criddle embodies why BYU is so easy to dislike:

"His creeds and principles are set up as such to recruit and attract an elect group of kids."

Why use the word "elect"? It seems to be used in an effort to reduce the quality of other teams' players so that the cougs are better than them even in a loss.

The one the bugs me the most said by the right wing fans is that they "are glad Bronco is winning while running a clean program". There is an innuendo always there that everyone else is dirty. Why are they dirty, because they don't have the HC.

Honestly, I have nothing against the HC. What bugs me is how some people cling to it as a sign those who follow it are morally superior to everyone else.

I can honestly say there are some on this board who profess they are apostates that I would rather be with at judgement day than some of the "faithful". I honestly believe that arrogance is gong to be a bad mark against some folks. I heard a prophet from the pulpit in conference warn against arrogance.

Yes, I realize the conundrum (sp) of someone arrogantly calling out someone else for being arrogant.

I will never understand the mentality of some fans. SeattleUte parodies this wing of Ute culture well. I don't think Criddle even takes a nanosecond to compare the two. I think you are finding a reason to take offense where none is genuinely intended.

Which fans are being pissed off by Bronco? It sounds like Bronco's comments are directed at a small subset of fans, so why the outrage? Could it be that the guilty take the truth to be hard?

An honest non confrontational question. Could you provide us with the definition of who that small subset of fans are? Personally I think that might be part of the problem. Bronco uses the term fans and then the "far right" of the fan base define it for him.

Perhaps as a good start, you could define for us that small subset.

I would be especially curious to know if you think fans who leave before a game is over fall into that subset.

Go back to the statement Bronco made earlier this year about 'ignorant' fans and he clearly qualifies his statements to not include all fans.

I think the more interesting question is why do some fans get so upset by Bronco's comments, moreso than what subset of fans Bronco is referring to.

Personally, I'd rather a fan leave early than decide to hurl insults at a QB's wife.

Isn't the ignorance of fans relative to who is speaking? Compared to Mendenhall, aren't pretty much all BYU fans ignorant?

I've never booed Bronco. I am a faithful season ticket holder. I go to games early and stay till the end. I don't egg Hill's car or berate Max Hall's wife. I don't even call for the backup QB or stand up and yell that Anae's playcalling is predictable. I've been to a couple of his firesides and take my young men's group there. I've been fairly positive towards Bronco in my posts about him since he's been head coach.

He's starting to piss me off. Actually piss off is the wrong word, more like turning me off. Am I his target audience?

Personally, I think if some guy hurls insults at a QB's wife, I would like to see the guys ticket privileges revoked. If some guy hurls insults to a players face, I would like to see that player kick the guys ass.

So when Bronco talks about fans booing and Criddle talks about spiting the fans, who they are talking about is just the fans that insult players wives?

So are you saying the subset Bronco is talking about is the ones who egged Hill's car and hurled insults at players wives.

You are welcome to your opinion, but I think you are reaching, really reaching.

Since you wouldn't answer my question, let me ask.

Do you then exclude from the subset fans who:

                          Complain about the schedule.
Would like to see the HC not hyped so much and recruit a larger pool.
Would rather football not be listed as priority 5.
                          Boo at coaches decisions.
Prefer the team blitz a lot more.
Complain about getting blown out at home even though we win 10 games.

Are the above fans excluded from the Bronco subset as you put it.

Isn't he referring those who think they know more than Bronco or think they can make better decisions than Bronco.

Yes, most are more ignorant than Bronco, but I'm not sure most are ignoramuses.

Good point, I would use the word apathy setting in, not getting pissed.

The apathy that has set in has caused me to not show for 3 games. Really, I would say to myself even, who cares. However, if I represent and I may not, a lot of fans, that is not good news. Those that scream the loudest about other fans not letting the door hit them in the butt on the way out, usually aren't the fans paying the freight either. They remind me of the liberal democrats who don't donate to charities. They prefer to voice their opinion on how other people should spend their money.
