ESPN hates the MWC, therefore this story is not true.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
Seems like the league and ESPN are buddying up for some reason.
Originally I thought it was just BYU and ESPN, but I guess not.
When is the TV deal up for CSTV/the mtn.?
Could it be that ESPN is just trying to cozy up with the possibility of the MWC getting an auto BCS bid? I agree they do seem to be buddying up quite a bit. It just feels weird that they have given so much exposure to games they don't even carry on their network.

So if ESPN offered the MWC a deal with similar money to Comcast, but wanted 2-3 games per year from the conf on Wed, Thurs or Fri nights would you take it?

Yes. My guess is a "lesser" game (CSU/UNM, perhaps) would be the Wednesday game, and a dull OOC game (similar to BYU/Tulane or Utah/Louisville) would be the Friday night game(s). The rest of the games would be on the family of ESPN networks, GamePlan, 360, etc.

some here are very happy that we left ESPN to go to the MTN. Those people did not want to be playing on Wed and Thurs.
By the way, another ranked team played this thurs on espn.

Yes. We should be begging to ESPN to take us. back.
Selfishly, I like that all our games are reasonable hours on Saturday.
It makes it much easier to take my young kids (7 and 5) to the games.
I would probably reconsider getting season tickets if lots of the games were on a weeknight or late Saturday night.
The thing is, if you look at the WAC's schedule, they have a pretty reasonable schedule: two Wednesday games, eight Friday games, and three Thursday games.
Maybe I'm a MWC homer, but I highly doubt BYU/Utah/TCU would ever find themselves playing on a Wednesday night. And Thursdays and Fridays are doable, IMO.

That is a great schedule for the publicity they get. Let CSU play Wyoming on a Wednesday night.
I doubt as well that those 3 teams would play each other on a Wednesday night.

Ditto. I quit getting basketball tickets back before the switch to the MTN because the game times were too inconvenient and have been considering buying them again this season. I'd hate to be at the mercy of ESPN scheduling again for basketball. Going back to (mostly) Saturday afternoon home football games has been one of the biggest pluses of the MTN deal (even back when I had to find someplace to watch the game for the road games I didn't attend).
