  • Are we happy?

Seems the FSU game put a major wet towel on enthusiasm for BYU Fans. At the beginning of the season, I had predicted 5-1 at this point but the loss to OU.

I feel pretty happy to be where we are and am excited for the TCU match up in 2 weeks. I think the team is going to be pretty fired up for that game and I expect a win.

The FSU game feels like the aberration.

I'm probably a football fan neophyte, but I was even (mostly) happy during the Crowton years. I like to watch BYU play football. Even better when they're playing well. Contending for a national championship, fantastic. Contending for a conference championship, great. Winning season, good.

I'm very happy this season, but I'm sure having been in attendance for the Oklahome game helps that sentiment a lot. FSU tarnished it a little, but I still smile anytime something reminds me of that game.

Yes, I am happy. It's not the perfect season. But I would have taken 5-1 at the point had you given it to me. So yeah I'm happy so far. We still can win conference and a bcs birth isn't out of the question.

It isn't quite the "elated" feeling I had after the Oklahoma game, but I am quite happy. The D is better than I thought it would be. We have 3 really good games left at home and I think we beat TCU by 10 or more.

I am down with the crew. We are still in the thick of everything save the National Championship game. we have a great game at home vs TCU. We are playing at SDSU this weekend and I can drive an hour to see it for almost no cost for tickets. And we have Utah at home over thanksgiving weekend.

          life is good.

I dunno, after the Oklahoma game, I was pretty high on the team. FSU was the nightmare game that usually comes at the end of the season, like an embarrassing loss to Hawaii, or Utah, or Tulsa.

I'm finding it hard to get excited watching the Cougs play New Mexico, or Air Force, or Wyo. I want to ditch the MWC and play Notre Dame, or BC, or ASU, or Michigan. I think I'm just sick of playing the same old same old.

For the first time in my life I catch myself getting excited about Jimmer Fredette during football season.

            Meh.

Playing the pokes is one of the highlights of the season, and you darn well know it.

                I'm happy.

The FSU game still bugs me. I used to think FSU was a superior team but now I think we got out-everythinged that game by an inferior team.

you said it. this is an entirely different issue altogether. The MWC is an abomination. the teams are abysmal. The locations are unappealing and make for lousy road trips....fort collins. laramie. colorado springs. wherever TCU is located. Albuquerque. oh brother. The 2 decent roadie spots are not fun for me...San Diego...I already live down here. And Las Vegas....I don't gamble and because of the Vegas Bowl, the MWC hoops tournament, and my grandparents, I get burned out on visiting there.

It would be great if Utah and BYU could go to a better conference.

This argument of "If you told me we'd be 5-1" is a bit disingenuous, IMO. If you told me in August we'd be 5-1 at this point, I'd assume a loss against Oklahoma and a win against a lesser FSU team at home. That's an acceptable scenario. If you'd told me in August we'd beat Oklahoma and lose at home to FSU, I'd be a bit perplexed.

That loss hurt, especially since the Seminoles apparently cannot beat anyone else.

Call me a boo bird, but I don't like our chances against TCU, and no matter how bad Utah looks, they always always bring their A+ game to the Holy War, something I wish could be said of the Cougars.

You guys should be happy. BYU is having a very good year. 5-1 and a top-20 ranking? You'd better be doing backflips!

With a third-year starting QB, NFL-caliber tight end and All-Conference running back, this is where we should be. It's no higher or lower than is expected.

Forgive me for not doing backflips.

If we're Top 20 and 5-1 at this point next season? Backflips. Look for backflips.

I'd be lying if I said I'm not a bit apathetic. My daughter came down sick last Saturday, and Mrs. Donut wasn't real keen on me ditching them for the night to go to the game. Admittedly, I didn't put up much of a fight. That marks the first time i've missed the Cougars play in Vegas since 2005.

It is doubly depressing that our games are on the freaking crappiest channel on earth. Switching back and forth between the Florida-LSU game (OTA HD) and the mtn (LD) was sickening.

Am I happy? Not really. Am I sad? Not really. Am I bored? Perhaps.

I think bored is a good expression. Maybe we were spoiled by the games earlier in the season, but the MWC schedule is not appealing. TCU is a good game, because they are ranked high, but don't really get much of a rise out of me. Still looking forward to the Utah game though of course. I guess the middle of the MWC schedule really doesn't provide any intrigue. It's a lose lose situation. BYU is expected to blow the teams out. If they blow the teams out, they stay about where they are in the rankings. If there is any kind of struggle they slip a spot. I would say I am overall happy though with the team. This team is about what I expected and I enjoy watching them. The competition is just a little blaw.

This is how I feel as well. I will get excited again if BYU can win out and sneak into a BCS game and win. Unless and/or until that happens, consider me bored.
