    "capitalism?"

I think not. Even the staunchest of 'invisible handers' would say that one of the valid roles of government is to ensure that markets occur on a level(ed) playing field.

Monopolies & cartels are a threat to capitalism, not a legitimate outcome of it...

So you believe that these conferences and bowls are operating a monopoly rather than just offering what the market wants? Or you want government intervention to aid your cause because BYU does not have a national appeal and the market would not choose to watch them? Is that your contention?

He's also running for the Senate against Bob Bennett. I smell political grandstanding here. If there were a real antitrust case against the BCS and the MWC wanted to press it, they would have done so already. This is a war that the MWC would not want to start unless they are willing (1) to see it through and (2) to live with the consequences of winning or losing, which could be pretty profound and long-lasting.

Isn't Bob Bennett like 90 years old?

seriously. I remember seeing lawn signs in U-Co when I was at the BY..."Bennett for Senate." How old is that dude?

For the record, I also remember seeing some "Bo Gritz" lawn signs, too. I wish I had stolen one or two of those, for posterity.

I imagine Bo Gritz would poll very strongly on CB still.

He would also rock the "I believe in UFOs" vote.

He's in his mid-70s. I think he first got elected in 1992. I like to think that when I am that age I'll be spending lots of time with my grandkids.

Bennett was born September 18, 1933.

I am shocked that a guy his age wants to run again. I had heard that if he wins he would be 90 at the end of the next term. Gee Bob, thought about retirement??

My mother went on a date with Ichabod Bennett in the mid 50's. He was not much of a Cassanova. Of course, it wouldn't have been a good match as she is a person even more gangly than him.
