I'm not a falcons fan, but this is a pretty good game tonight. Matt Ryan is impressive, as is the ATL defense.

Punting the ball from your 45 yard line with 2:52 left in the game. Unbelievable. Teams keep on making these mistakes with punting the ball in these situations.

What are the odds that Matt Ryan can complete a pass on 4th and 6?

What are the odds that your defense will hold Drew freaking Brees and one of the best play-calling teams in the NFL to a either a three and out or just one first down on the subsequent drive? Even if you do, how much time will you have left and how many first downs.

The thing that gets me is the worst case scenario is that you don't get the first down and the Saints get the ball back at your 45. You still have to hold them to prevent the field goal which you're counting on doing anyway if you punt the ball.

So basically for 35 yards of field position, you punt the ball as opposed to giving your team two bites of the apple. These coaches are just too afraid of being second-guessed the same way Belichick was second-guessed last year when he went for it on 4th and 1 against Indy last year.

And yet the Falcons came extremely close to recovering a Saints fumble deep in Saints territory after that punt.

I've lost interest in the NFL. I'll admit that I haven't followed the Falcons much in the past 2-3 years. I've watched fewer than 10 NFL games over the past 3 seasons.
