  • Official Atlanta Falcons thread

I enjoy starting threads that no one but me have any desire to participate in, so I'm going to go ahead and start the Atlanta Falcons thread.

Nice to see the Falcons defense step up and play well, especially since it the team's biggest weakness. It is nice to know that I get to enjoy the win and Bill Simmons gets to lose money because he picked against the Falcons.

        Thank you Bill Simmons.

Keep picking against the Falcons. Anyone who put stock in his "We Couldn't Get This Sponsored Underdog Lock of the Week:" you got what you deserved.

Some lock of the week there Billy. How about you write another 30,000 word column about that lock.

2 Bill Simmons picks against the Falcons, 2 wins.

All I've got to say about Hotlanta is those throwback unis are sweet. They're before my time. My earliest memories of Atlanta were those red jerseys and red helmets, I didn't know they used to have black jerseys and red helmets.

Other teams that need to start going with their throwback unis full-time: Buffalo, Denver and San Diego.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Time to resurrect this thread. The Falcons are the best team in the NFC. Nice win on the road today and at this point, I'd be very surprised if the Falcons don't end up with the best record in the NFC and home field advantage. It is looking like the Falcons in the Super Bowl this year.

Vick may win the MVP (and probably deserves it), but no chance I trade Matty Ice for Vick.

Matt Ryan seems like a genuinely good guy. Roddy White is great.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Falcons make a strong run through the playoffs this season.

That division is loaded. I have a hard time not wanting the Bucs to win, when they wear those awesome uniforms.

Yeah the orange is great -- you obviously have a thing for ugly uniforms.

It's really too bad that the NFC West doesn't have to give up its playoff spot to whoever is going to get left out in the South.

No love for Simmons? He has been riding the Falcons all season. I believe he's waiting for his thank-you post.

Not really, I shared the general consensus about Utah's knock off Pro Combat unis.

Speaking of orange, i thought the Beavers' unis yesterday were pretty sharp. But then, i have a thing for matte black, as you know.

My hell, you know it's destiny for Atlanta-Philly to meet in the NFL title game. Only problem is, I don't know which fans are more "long-suffering," or which franchise is cursed more. In that respect, this game should end in a tie, but we know that's impossible. It would be fitting for the game to be decided on a missed Atlanta FG late that would've sealed victory, or for Ryan to get fatigued during a two-minute drill mid-fourth with his team down 10.

No the fitting end to this whole saga is for the Eagles to score with under 2 minutes left and for Matt Ryan to lead a TD drive to end it. During the celebration after the game, Michael Vick goes up to Arthur Blank, shakes his hand, and apologizes for lying to him. Vick's redemption is complete and the Falcons get to where Vick should have led them had he not been a dumb ass.

It is looking pretty damn good for the Falcons to finish with the best record in the NFC.

Falcons: 11-2 (@ Sea, NO, @ Car): probably finish at worst 2-1 and 3-0 is certainly possible as we have New Orleans at home
Saints: 10-3 (@ Bal, @ Atl, TB): really tough stretch for the Saints. 2-1 is probably the best case scenario, with 1-2 a possibility.
Eagles: 9-4 (@ NYG, Minn, Dal): They need to win out and the Falcons need to lose 2 games. They have one tough game left, so winning out isn't out of the question but I don't see the Falcons losing 2 more games
Giants: 9-4 (Phi, @ GB, @ Was): 2 tough games remaining. Again, even if they win out I don't see the Falcons losing 2 games.
                              Chicago: 9-4 (@ Minn, NYG, @ GB).

Falcons have easiest schedule remaining and have the best record.
