Yeah, that has been very fun. Freddy and his buddies are having a quite a ride. Haha.

The stories about visitors from other countries having experiences in the Us are the best past of this World Cup.
British people discovering barbeque
Scottish people drinking Boston bars dry
Japanese cleaning, er, littering stadiums
Australians chanting “”Aussie boys are in a bender, Donald Trump’s a sex offender”
the German tourist that has gone viral and is being given all kind of comps and experiences

That's weird. They are distributing garbage so carefully. The Japanese are weird.Originally posted by chrisrenrut View Post

The second half of the Japan/Netherlands game yesterday was incredible.

I knew this would.be the case but it's kind of sad to see it play out: with the field increased to 48 and a full 2/3 going through, the group stage has been stripped of almost all its previous drama. The final days of WC group stage play used to be one of the most exciting spectacles in all sports. Unfortunate for fans but money I guess.

I ended up selling my LA tix but my brother and I are meeting up in Seattle for the US/Australia game in a week. Still very excited.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostVisa did a presale lottery and I entered with some family. My cousin was selected and his time slot was yesterday. He was allowed up to 40 tickets with a maximum of 4 tickets for any one match. I ended up getting tickets to the second US group stage match in Seattle and the third US group stage match in LA. I had a chance to also buy in the knockout rounds but I decided not to lay the prices currently available without a US match guarantee.
I'm super excited. I was expecting to overpay on the secondary market for a US match ticket if I was able to go to one at all so this was a pleasant surprise. Supposedly there will be more lotteries and they are releasing more tix at every price level with each lottery. So being I haven't been selected yet I will keep entering and if selected for a later lottery I may get a couple knockout round matches on one of the possible US paths and then if they crash out or go on another path I would still see hopefully get some good matches.

I agree wigb Alexi Lalas: best half of soccer for the US men's team in world cup group play in the modern era. Couldnt have gone much better. Hopefully the Pulisic sub at half was precautionary and there is nothing else there.
Also I was not aware that VAR can review and reverse yellow cards and reassign them to the player who dove if there was no contact. That is a great addition and will help get more diving out of the game if they use it.

It’s the one time every four years that I watch a little men’s soccer if nothing else is going on. Go USA!

Agreed. This is a good group. I wonder what amount of money we paid for that group selection. ????Originally posted by BigPiney View Post
I think this is pretty favorable for the US. They should be favored in all games.
in all seriousness. I hope we build some momentum coming out and get rolling. But I have little faith. I like our coach better than GB, but we still play ugly soccer.

Groups were decided today. The USA is in a group with Australia, Paraguay and the TBD winner of a playoff. Is Australia or Paraguay any good?
