Giants have 5 runs in three games so far vs Atlanta, on the flip side Atlanta has only scored 8. I think the Giants rough up Lowe a bit today and we get the split.

Not looking good, but 8 double plays in the last three days (today's game isn't over yet) doesn't help much. Oh, and Wellemeyer has an infinite ERA since his return.

1-33 with RISP during the series is awesome!

        • Looking forward to the game tonight.

It's good to know that although Zito's contract is insane, he's been playing very well this year and last. On the contrary, Carlos "Hugo Chavez" Zambrano, is paid about the same and pitching horribly.

I'll be sitting the same seats PaloAltoCougar had a golden opportunity to catch a foulball, but was blocked by some idiot in front of us.

As a Braves fan, the Giants and the Phillies are the two teams I want the Braves to avoid in the post season. Even when the Braves beat the Giants it feels like the Giants gave the game away and not because the Braves were better.

Seriously? That's funny because I think Giants fans feel the same way, but from the other side. First of all, the Braves gave away the game on Friday. And the other games felt like the Giants of 2009. This series made me feel like the Giants are like the Cougars (when I'm in a bad mood) in that they beat the teams they should beat, but can't win the big games.

I think home field advantage will be huge. And thanks Brian McCann, in case one of our teams makes it to the WS.

The Braves just can't seem to hit the Giants. Luckily, the Giants haven't exactly ripped the cover off the ball against the Braves, but in a 7 game series, the Giants pitching really scares me. If I remember correctly, the Giants took 2 out of 3 against the Braves earlier this year.

Yeah, but thanks to a clutch (read lucky) HR by Renteria, otherwise we only win one. However, two of the Braves wins have now come in part to the pitching of Todd Wellemeyer, who will hopefully be checking craigslist postings for an apartment in Fresno soon.

A weak excuse, but I heard a lot of the Giants weren't used to the heat since it is a constant 64 degrees at AT&T, and Houston, Arizona, etc., are indoor (and Florida was in early May).

The difference in the series was the Braves had big hits off Lincecum and Cain that the Giants just couldn't quite find. Given our drought, I'll take the postseason no matter who we play.

I'm sure the heat and humidity did have an effect on them because it has been bearing down. It dropped down to a brisk 89 here yesterday. I was watching part of the game on Fox Sports and the homer announcers were talking about how, late in the game, the Giants looked dead out there. The effort looked low and like they wanted to just wave the white towel, though not necessarily out of laziness.

They also had a lot of excitement for Buster Posey. This year's NL rookie class could be quite memorable: Posey, Heyward, Strasburg, Venters, Chris Johnson, Gaby Sanchez.
I have nothing else to say at this time.

                      • Freaking Tim Lincecum. I passed on drafting him last season (and for the month of April, I felt vindicated), so when he was still available at a good position in the draft, I pounced on him. With the quality of the NL West going way up this season, I think the Freak's true colors are shining through....he was the beneficiary of circumstance in winning his Cy Youngs....

Wow you clearly lack baseball knowledge. Which should have been obvious by your moniker. Lincecums ERA is only 3.41 and once again he leads the NL in strikeouts.

He is not having the lights out season he had the last two years but he is still having a great year. It is 100% mechanical he changed his windup halfway through the year and he is still struggling to figure it out.

Please stay on the Red Sox Bandwagon that I am sure you jumped on after 2004.

Oh brother. Look at what he's done the last six weeks. Not exactly a great season. While I admittedly don't follow the NL West much, I think we've hashed this very accusation out over at CB. I've been a Red Sox fan since 1988. I ruined the siding on my house throwing baseballs pretending to be Roger Clemens....I still collect baseball cards and my prized possession is a 1988 Wade Boggs card from Fleer....it's not worth much, but it was my first Boggs card. I grew up in New England (and Arizona...I have one parent in each and bounced back and forth my entire life).

I still think he's the beneficiary of circumstance...but for my fantasy baseball team's sake, I hope he "figures it out."

How is he the beneficiary of circumstance? His ERA against the NL West in 08 and 09 was 2.555. Against the other NL teams? 2.556? What is the circumstance?

Good statistic. I also happen to think that the NL has been pretty watered down the last few years. I'd be interested to see what the AL/NL interleague record was to test my thesis.
