The AL has been stronger, no doubt, but his ERA against the AL is 3.05 during the last three years, with a 5-2 record. The NL's record against the AL wasn't much better this year either, and I doubt the NL west's batting is much better than last year. So, I really don't think anything has changed, except for his throwing motion, which is the culprit.

He won't win the Cy Young this year, but he'll continue to be one of the top pitchers in the league.

Well, maybe I can get him for a real value next year. I drafted Lincecum in the 2nd or 3rd round (must have been the second) and got Jimenez in the 9th round....so for the first half of the season, I was dominating the pitching categories in my head to head league. The last six weeks I went from the second best team to the maybe the fifth best team just based on pitching performance. BUT, I picked up Aubrey Huff, so the Giants have repaid me for the Freak's poor month and a half.

      • A very shaky series, with all wins coming in the bottom of the 8th or later. I'm nervous about this team, especially with the phillies/cards series but after that I don't see anything too bad.

I still think we can take 2 of 3 against the pads, just don't see us beating Latos on Saturday. Although, that is contingent on Sanchez going more than 6 innings tomorrow and less than 5 walks. He did guarantee the sweep though...

We need 7+ strong innings out of dirty sanchez. The bullpen is gassed after that Cubs series.

Is that why we couldn't hear you for the past 6 or 7 years?

                  • Tonight will be a fun game to watch. Friday night in orange, Sanchez on the mound after predicting a weekend series sweep, first place within reach, barely. Will Sanchez make good on his prediction, or will it be a frustrated quest for weekend perfection?

And Jose Guillen in right field! Of course, sans translator since they can only have one, and that is obviously for Ishikawa.

                      • Huff just missed that shot. He hit that thing 419 ft and it stayed in.

                        • Another close game today. Since the all-star break there have been 18 games at AT&T, 16 of them have been decided by 2 runs or less. Half of those were decided in the 8th inning or later. Although no huge offensive outputs, I don't think there's a park with more exciting games in the last month.

Also, 13 pitchers pitched in todays game. The highest ERA was 3.38! 9 pitchers had an ERA less than 2.50. These teams are throwing everything out there and it's only the middle of August.

Definite playoff atmosphere. The Padres are legit, it blows me away how a bunch of no-namers continue to get it done.

Also I know Strasburg is getting a lot of pub and rightfully so, but Latos has similar stuff, 96-98 on the fastball, and then he drops in that 83-84 mph curve that breaks down and away from righties and inside to lefties. He is a witch out there.

His FB is really bad right now. Really bad.

Lincy's lead the league in SO because of his changeup, curve, and splitter. They're such devastating pitches because of their variance from his fastball (see the first inning yesterday - three KOs). But when his FB is only going 88/89, hitters can sit on either pitch (FB or change), because there is only 5 mph difference between the two.

I've heard some fans say his location is the problem, but it's all about the lost velocity on his FB – which started dropping late last season and starts slowing by the thrid inning. Look at yesterday's game: the Pads had like 6 soft singles off him. They were not ripping the ball, but when guys like Tejada can afford to wait on the pitch, they'll get wood on anything he offers up.

Mechanical fiddling or not, he's the weakest link in the Giants' rotation over the last month.

I just benched him.....I'm fighting for a postseason spot and he cost me last week bigtime....I wonder if his issiues are due to his crazy mechanics??? Maybe all those coaches were right?
