I was expecting Adam Scott to be in contention, that looking unlikely. Who I really hope can make some noise on the weekend is the amateur Bryson DeChambeau (sp?). He is an interesting cat- physics major with all of the same length irons, soaks his ball (not THOSE balls, sicko) in epsom salt to make sure they are perfectly balanced, and rocks a Hogan hat. Not to mentioned he got screwed by the NCAA.

Lol, Day drops 5 shots on the back 9 and Rory comes in at -2.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

This Masters is up for grabs if the winds keeps blowing. If it settles down Pelado is going to look like a pick 'em guru, except for picking a guy who didn't even tee it up.

Thanks to clack for helping me with my picks this time.

Rory and Spieth in the final pairing today. It's going to be a good day of watching golf.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. This is as good as Christmas for me. All my kids have texted me saying they wish they could be home watching golf with me.

I think I'll have an egg salad sandwich for lunch. Maybe two.

Wow. Just wow. Well somehow, with the 11th and 31st pick I win $200 in my friend's pool. (Matsuyama and Casey).

Wow. I've never been more shocked at watching a golf shot as Spieth's second in a row in the water. I was really pulling for him to battle back for redemption, but it wasn't meant to be.

I declare a mic-drop victory for RCV... the only person to pre-pick Willett!

                      Good Job.

Doesn't surprise me. The guy has been brilliant over the years with his knowledge of sports.

I felt the same way. His second (third, really) shot was the most stunning I've ever seen. I've hit lots of stunningly bad shots, but I can't say those are ever unexpected. Coming from Spieth, it was truly shocking. I thought he ultimately gathered himself very well and finished with class. I'd love to see him come back and win the Open.

As a fine golfer, I think you actually can relate when you think about it.

I told the guys I was watching it with that I thought he was going to chunk the shot into the water after dropping it. Here is my reasoning.

He was having trouble and hitting the ball right. He did it on 10 and 11 and then he did it on the par 3 with an 8 or a 9 iron in his hand. I don't care how awesome a golfer you are, if you know you have an issue going, you are human and it is in your head. As great as he is, I thought he was going to make sure and not fade it by staying down on the ball. Result, chunk.

Of course a lucky guess on my part but I sure wish he had knocked it six inches from the cup or in.

I totally admire the way the guy can get it together though. I would have thought he would have been lucky to bogey the rest of the way in.

I re-watched the 12th hole again this morning. I can't help but think the 12th will be a seminal moment in his career and will help him 10x more during the next 20 years than a victory. He's a fine young man, and now he knows the terror and pain that accompanies greatness.

Or it could simply serve to galvanize a fragility he didn't think existed and he peters out as some former number 1's have.

TBH, I prefer your outlook over mine.
