    Best/Worst holidays for sports

    I'll tell you the worst, the 4th of July. All we can muster is the hot dog eating contest.

    With the college football playoff, January 1 is clearly the best. Thanksgiving is still solid. Labor Day has the early season college football games which is great because of how terrible July and August are for sports (in non Olympics years).
    Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

          Totally agree about July 4th. If you ignore Major League Baseball games, the start of the Tour de France, women's World Cup, and Wimbledon, the only thing on today is the hot dog eating contest.

                      What's your plan for watching it? Accoring to this page, it's broadcast on the beIN Sports channels (which I don't subscribe to) and something called DirecTV Sports (I have DirecTV but can't find a DirecTV Sports chann).

                                                  Yeah, you sure got me there. Baseball regular season games and the first week of Wimbledon. Not sure how I forgot about those.
