I can't complain since I didn't vote. Just looking back it is one sided to me.Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostThe way we have it set up currently, the league votes on all trades. My policy is typically that unless there is clear evidence of collusion, I'm not going to prevent someone from making a stupid trade. All that said, it's nearly impossible to get people to pay enough attention to vote on trades, so maybe we need commissioner veto power.

First, why do you think the trade was "so one-sided that it should have been rejected?" Anyone who took the time to look at the details as much as I did would know:
Spoiler for Facts for those who bother with that sort of thing:- Palmer was a top 6 or 7 QB heading into week 10 as rated by several fantasy sites. He was one of five or six QBs who had at least 2 TD passes in each start of the season. He also has a history of injury. I didn’t have a back-up QB, and my trade partner had a solid back-up QB.
- The TE position is extremely shallow this year. Allen is a top 7 or 8 TE, and the drop from him to Miller (my trade partner’s TE) or any of the free agent TEs then available was significant. I had depth at the position with both Allen and Bennett on my roster.
- Johnson has been a low-end WR2/flex at best this year, but his targets are still among the highest in the league. There is potential upside that has at least some value.
- If you combine the point totals of Palmer and Allen for the five starts that Palmer had before the trade occurred and compare them to the combined point totals of Manning and Miller (the QB and TE on my trade partner’s roster) for those same weeks, the Palmer/Allen combo outscored the Manning/Miller combo two of the five weeks. In a third week, it took an outlier 21-point performance by Miller to outscore the Palmer/Allen duo. The week before the trade (Week 9), my trade partner would have been 9 points better off with the Palmer/Allen combo than with the Manning/Miller combo. He would have beaten JIC in Week 1 instead of losing if he'd had the Palmer/Allen combo instead of the Manning/Miller combo.
- I had TE and WR depth. I also had Palmer, who was scoring good points for me but made me nervous from an injury risk standpoint. I didn’t have a back-up QB on the roster. I looked over the league rosters and found a team that had a QB who could be expected to score better than Palmer (benefit to me), had a solid back-up QB (risk mitigation for trade partner), and who would benefit from a better TE and perhaps from Johnson.
- I proposed a trade, and the other owner accepted.
We made the trade, and I expected us both to benefit from it. Maybe you would have made the same trade, maybe not. But that’s not what you’re discussing. Instead, some of you are saying the trade was so one-sided that, regardless of the benefits to both sides that I just discussed, it should have been rejected. Why? You give no evidence of why, other than "Palmer isn't a fantasy QB," and it comes across as either ignorance or sour grapes.
Second, so what? If someone really wants Reggie Bush and wants to trade Aaron Rodgers to Maximus for him, should I try to block those two guys from managing their teams how they see fit? Even assuming you guys want to take the time to analyze each other's trades in detail, which I don't, there is so much risk and uncertainty in football that it’s impossible to tell with foresight how a trade will work out. If I had traded Megatron for T.Y. Hilton after Week 1, it would have seemed imbalanced as well. Megatron was a first-round pick who scored 33 points that week. Hilton was a sixth-round pick who scored 6 points that week. However, Hilton’s been a beast, and Megatron has been injured. Why should other owners have any say in what risks someone takes?
I get why collusion would be different, but this doesn't seem like that type of group. Do you think owners aren't looking out for their own best interests and judging risk/reward as they see fit?
Maybe you all covered this years ago, in which case you should make it clear to those who are invited into the league. I would have been completely surprised if my trade had been vetoed."What are you prepared to do?" - Jimmy Malone
"What choice?" - Abe Petrovsky

As the one who traded Peyton I was trust trying to catch lightning in a bottle for a couple of weeks. My back up (Flacco) is plenty competent Of course the Sunday I need Carson Palmer cause Flacco is on a bye he blows out his knee. Been that type of year for Slot Right Rita.Originally posted by Maximus View PostI can't complain since I didn't vote. Just looking back it is one sided to me."Be a philosopher. I didn't object, so I didn't veto.
That said, this year has sucked for me. Some early injuries hurt me bad. Then I forgot to set my lineup the other week and missed some guys with byes (wife was having a baby). Oh well. Last week showed what could have been for me when they all click."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I need to pay closer attention to thread titles. I see a post from dabrockster and a quick skim of somebody blowing a .2, and just assumed it was another Buckeyes post.Originally posted by dabrockster View Post:swear:Eli Manning goes .20 for me this weekend.. Those types of posts only come from DDD or YO. Usually DDD finds it first and posts, followed by YO providing additional funnies..Originally posted by HBCoug View PostI need to pay closer attention to thread titles. However, you would think YO would post first since he is on EST and DDD is not.. But it is their routine...

Trade proposal in my league: Tre Mason and Julius Thomas for Jimmy Graham. Thoughts? I'm in sore need of a decent back.At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

julius thomas is elite but that ankle didn't look good and he's had some pretty bad weeks considering the offense he plays in. it doesn't make sense to give up jimmy graham unless you get someone a lot better than tre mason to make up for the thomas risk.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostTrade proposal in my league: Tre Mason and Julius Thomas for Jimmy Graham. I was wondering who I was dealing with. I'm not going to lie - I'm having a hard time figuring out how to make this deal without killing my RB situation. Losing your backup doesn't hurt nearly as much with your stud starter.Originally posted by old_gregg View Postbluegoose: you need a qb, i need some stuff, let's make a deal!
I do still need a quarterback. Cam sucks. What sucks even worse is leveon bell going off for 34 points last night when I had a 26 point lead going into mnf.
