Mike from Anthony making his home debut tonight vs. Darren and the BrooklyKnights. My vacation starts now. I will be tuning in.

Weird game. I admittedly fell asleep in the 3rd quarter but what I watched was kind of frenetic. I was surprised to see the Lakers only had 11 TOs in the box score this morning because it seemed liked Gerald Wallace created at least that many himself. That dude was everywhere stealing and blocking everything. I'd love that kind of guy to replace MWP. Brooklyn seemed to control the uneven pace. I am hopeful that there will be more control once Nash returns to manage the game.

I continue to marvel at Kobe's game. I know we're only 11 games in but he's got to be one of the early faves for MVP with LBJ. He's leading the league in scoring while shooting a TS% of .638. Higher than LBJ and KD. His TOs are hurting his efficiency numbers but I expect those to come back down with Nash handling the ball more when he returns.

        From McMenamin's blog:

Kobe's thoughts on the college kid scoring 138 points in a game were, as you might guess, pretty classic ...

Reporter: Kobe, a college kid scored 138 points tonight and took over 100 shots ...

Bryant: "Wow ... No kidding? Where?"

        Reporter: Grinnell college in Iowa.

Bryant: "Really? Wow. That's impressive. That's crazy. I don't care what level you're at. Scoring 138 points is pretty insane. How many 3s did he shoot?"

        Reporter: 71.

Bryant: "Holy sh--. How many points did they score as a team?"

        Reporter: 179.

        Bryant: "What?!"

Reporter: No other starter had double figures.

        Bryant: "That's incredible."

Reporter: Dude on the other team scored 71 points and lost.

Bryant: "That's amazing. He must have been wearing the Mambas, man. Only Mambas have no conscious to shoot the ball like that."

Reporter: If you did that, would people be celebrating you?

Bryant: "Would people be celebrating me if I scored 138 points? You know how it is, some people would, some people wouldn't. They can all kiss my a-- as I'm sure he feels the same way. If you score 138 points, you kind of have a license to tell people to f--- off."

          More from Mac's blog:

Deron and Dwight are no longer BFFs:
Dwight Howard had some dismissive words about Deron Williams on Monday ...

"That’s my decision," Howard told reporters when asked about feeling a need to communicate with Williams to clear the air. "My life. If he’s upset because I made a decision for me, then so be it. If he doesn’t want to be friends because I’m on another team, then so be it. There’s no need to smooth things over."
          On MWP:
Metta World Peace averaged a career-low 7.7 ppg last year, but D'Antoni said that number will go way up ...

"He should be wide open every time," D'Antoni said after World Peace scored 17 pts on 6-of-13 shooting in the Lakers' 95-90 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. "He was 4-for-9 on 3s. He'll get 10 a game and I told him he needs to make 4-of-10 every game. And he can do that. That's 40 percent and that's pretty good so he'll do that. I think he'll do that every game. He's going to be up there (averaging) 17-20 points."

He's averaging 18.0 points in the three games since D'Antoni was introduced as head coach. He hasn't averaged that many points for a season since 2007-08 with Sacramento.

tru was wide open on most if not all of those threes. He better start knocking more down. Also. I'm waiting for Pow to start playing better D in the paint alongside d12. It isn't enough to be tall, I wish he would be more aggressive.

Nash can't come back soon enough.

Darius Morris gives us nothing on the offensive end. He's a decent defender and is athletic, but he can't score and doesn't create. I can't wait for Nash to come back too.

Morris seems like someone who is there to be a practice squad player. He shouldn't be getting many minutes, especially in close games.

Lakers now 2-8 when Kobe scores 25+, 6-1 when he's under that.

Chicken or the egg? Is he just trying to shoot them out of their off nights, or are his high volume shot nights resulting in poor offensive rhythm and defensive effort from the other players? Whatever it is, his shooting is dropping off rapidly from his really hot start. Kobe's incredibly efficient start was the only thing keeping LA from really tanking it to start the year. Now 8-9, they've had one of the heaviest home schedules so far in the league, and Kobe's shooting closer to his career averages...7 of the next 8 are on the road and by then the season will be about 1/3 over. Continued bad play on the road in this next stretch could make it awfully difficult to get anything higher than the 4th seed in the WC.

Crazy -- who would have guessed that thru 20+ games the Lake show 2012-13 wouldn't be in the playoffs standings.

I see them the same as the first year that the Heat all came together. It took a little bit for them to start on a roll.

Not having Nash has hurt I think. The biggest issue though is defense. They suck. And Pau can't figure out how to play with a center. And so far none of the Lakers coaches know how to do this either.
