Kobe's 3-point play with 45 seconds left was a classic example of an NBA star getting the benefit of the doubt. Looked like a charge to me.

The refs look at each other and can't decide -- then they thing "What the hell, it's Kobe. Let's give him the 'And 1'."

Dirk Nowitzki has developed into one of the NBA's most dominant clutch players. That's not an opinion. It's fact, and it's backed by a bunch of statistics:

        • According to Elias Sports Bureau, Nowitzki has knocked down an NBA-best eight game-winning shots -- three this season -- in the final two seconds since 2005-06. Dwyane Wade ranks second with five.

        • Nowitzki has hit 10 game winners in the final 10 seconds during that span, which also leads the league, one ahead of Kobe Bryant, David West and Chauncey Billups.

It was close. It was made worse by the refs inability to make a quick and decisive call. Bogut and that Russian kid who had a career night should work on their FT's.

Did you happen to notice how many Laker fans were in attendance? on the KCAL broadcast, they showed a few different angles of the final shot and it seemed like half the crowd cheered when the ball hit net.

Next up...a couple of days rest and then a game against the Nets on Saturday. So basically 4 days rest.....

I went to check the upcoming schedule for the Lakers on foxsports....foxsports just recently changed its website around. Looks like they are still working through glitches. I got a kick out of this screw up

There were a bunch of fans there. They had the one guy behind the Lakers bench in a jersey that kept getting face time every time they panned that way.

Sportcenter anchor: "Kobe may have gotten away with a travel and a charge. Oh well."

Might as well hack Kobe in those situations. He's less likely to score and he's going to the line anyway.

                  Lil' Kanye on Kobe:

"I hate losing to him," said Redd, back for his second game after missing seven with left knee soreness.
Phil on Kobe's game winner in OT after missing the same shot to win the game in regulation:

"I told him, 'Why did you keep us waiting? You had the same situation in regulation. Really, you are wasting a half-hour of our lives,'" Jackson joked. "I just don't understand that boy sometimes."

Gap between Jordan and Kobe narrowing each year. It is a worthy debate.

A week ago I asked John Salley, who had played with both, to weigh in on the comparison, fully expecting him to say, “There never has been and there never will be another Michael.”

But Salley viewed it as a legitimate debate, pointing out Kobe’s relative youth (31) and the fact that he probably has multiple championships ahead of him.

Yeah when Mbenga, Sasha and Farmar were all on the floor together in the 2nd quarter I kind of tuned out. Too bad Kobe had to take over in the 3rd to get this game to where it should be.

That was a nasty ankle sprain on Chris Douglas-Roberts. Of course they have to show it 10x.

Edit: Maybe it looked worse than it was. He just walked off to the locker room.

                            This will make Lingo happy:

                            http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-...0,663348.story

Power forward Gasol agrees in principle to an extension that would keep him under contract through the 2013-14 season.

How many rings would Pow have to win before his number goes up on The Wall?

Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak declined to comment on Bryant or Gasol other than to say, "Generally speaking, we'd love to have both players finish their careers as a Laker."

The Lakers have been to the NBA Finals the last two seasons with Gasol and have not lost three consecutive games since acquiring him...Since his return, the Lakers have won 12 of 13 games.
                              Pow is good.
