TUF: Jones vs. Sonnen

The newest season of TUF kicked off tonight pitting Jon Jones against Chael Sonnen. Ratings for TUF have been tanking over the last few seasons, and with good reason, the last few seasons have sucked.

This season they let the fighters bring their friends and family to the Octagon with them to watch them fight, which I think made the fights a little bit more intense. They also got into the back story of most of the fighters...including a few fighting out of SLC.

I don't know if it is the production being better or what, but based on the fights to get in the house, I think this will be fight-wise one of the better seasons we've seen in recent memory.

So far Jones and Sonnen have had some pretty friendly banter, especially for two guys that reportedly have so much animosity so each other. So it'll be interesting to see if it gets more intense as the season goes on.

Yeah, that was absolutely sick. Dana White had said during the filming that one guy sent two of his opponents to the hospital already. I don't remember his fight to get in the house, but it makes me wonder if he's basically already in the semis.

The production value has gone way up and it seems like the fighters are even better this year. Admittedly, I haven't watched every season, but this is the first time where I've seen the fighters really care about who is in control in terms of this being their lone shot to get into the UFC.

I think they did say they would give him an MRI which I'm not sure is standard. That bad of a knock out is probably worth looking inside to make sure nothing got damaged, is bleeding, etc. Uriah, at least so far, looks to be one of the better TUF fighters I have seen in a long time. In fact, everything about this season seems better from the production values (which are hugely improved) to the quality of fighter.

He is an absolute monster but for some reason I don't see him winning. I think Clint Hester wins.

You think Hester wins? I don't know. He seems like the kind of guy who can get caught easily. Same with Uriah though I guess. In both fights he's dropped his hands at times and eaten some punches.

How many fights have you ever seen finished by a guy on the bottom that wasn't a submission? I'd love for him to get a chance to avenge his two losses and if he wins a shot at the Spider.

Talk about the most anticlimactic finish to the best season ever. Dana is probably pretty pissed he has to write that check.
