  • Kobe almost with a 5x5...only he could do it while also having 50 points.

This game has been unreal. Kobe is doing work right now. Lillard isn't backing down. Fun stuff.

I find this to be a very intriguing story. Kobe's play is great of late, he's had a very good season, especially for his age, but his team is fighting for the 8 seed. Makes for some nice debate/discussion.

          • 29 and 12 for Deron, 1 TO, and 10-10 FTs. That was on the 2nd night of a b2b. 23 and 8 since the all-star break, 48/43/87 shooting.

              • Orlando is like the Disney version of the Jazz. They have some intriguing bigs. Vucevic and Tobias Funke Harris both go for 30 and 19 last night, the first teammates to pull that off since the 60s. Even Mo Harkless has looked good in stretches. And don't forget about Big Baby.

They even have a decent wing (I like Afflalo).

Then they have a dumpster of crappy pgs (E-Tawn Moore, Jameer, Beno U).

Unlike the Jazz, however, they have told their aged players that their time is not now. Of course, it's a lot easier to make the youth-movement decision when your veterans are Hedo Turkoglu and Al Harrington.

It is interesting. Especially when you consider the Heat are winning games without Bron. Shoot they're winning without the big 3. It's cliche but Kobe has put the Lakers on his back. He's been running the point without Nash. This is a team that lost starters for significant portions of the season. Even Howard was out a few games and really didn't play at full strength until the new year or so. What he's done in his 17th year, still elevating his game and playing as many minutes as he has is pretty extraordinary. When you talk about MVP as a guy most valuable to a team I am not sure someone deserves it more than Kobe.

It was fun watching him play last night. He's trim and looking 100%. I like this Deron and wish he wanted to be in Utah.

                    • Leading a team of Nash, Gasol and Howard to narrowly edging out a Utah team headlined by Al Jefferson for the last spot in the playoffs is definitely the mark of an MVP.

Your boy crush isn't the headliner?

No, Kobe's boy crush is not the headliner.

                          • I just don't think Kobe's the MVP. They just shouldn't be this bad with that group of players.

What he did with those teams that had Smush Parker with Odom as the second best player on the team was more impressive, at least to me. Those teams had no business being in the playoffs. They were also a few lucky plays from knocking Phoenix out of the playoffs one of those years.

I hate Bron Bron, but there isn't an argument for anyone but him as mvp

I'm sorry, but the Lakers have been one the biggest disappointments of the year. You can't give the MVP to anyone on such a poor team. I would argue that if the Lakers would run the offense through Nash and Kobe wasnt even on the team that their record would be very similar. Nash led phoenix last year to a .500 record, with a group of nobodies. Kobe's usage is so freaking high that Dwight hates playing with him (Pau pretty much does as well), and this Lakers team has underperformed all year. He is 10th in the league in PER, two miles behind Lebron and he plays very little defense anymore.

It's a nice thought, but it aint happening.
