I think the dumpster fire of this year scared him enough to make him change, but while Kobe has always been as intense as they come in terms of competing and wanting to win, it always had to be a win his way. That was the priority: win at all costs...as long as we're winning the way I want to play. I think now that he doesn't have many years left, and realizing how awful it'd look on his career resume to miss the playoffs with this team, he is more willing to shift how he plays, pretend like it was his idea all along, and start winning. But if winning was the real priority even one month ago we would've seen him spreading the ball around more.

It will certainly result in a score more often than hero ball.
Well it went nowhere when you tried to pick apart one of the most efficient games of the year against probably the best team in the league.

You're right. He is winning his way right now. Kobe running the offense from the post, turning into a facilitator and forcing Nash off the ball is the biggest middle finger he could give D'Antoni and his system.

Thank god. Kobe might be the only player in the league that can save Coach Antni from himself.

The Teflon Don continues to shake off any blame. People start grumbling about Kobe maybe being the biggest issue with the Lakers this year because he won't stop chucking even as his shot gets worse and worse as the season goes along. So when Kobe stops chucking, it is still "his way" somehow.

You don't go an entire career playing the way Kobe has, and then in 3 games pass the ball more and suddenly turn that into "your way" of playing. D'Antoni said early last week that it would be best for the Lakers if Kobe would quit shooting so much. Dwight said it over and over. And I wouldn't call receiving the ball from the elbow extended Kobe running the offense from the post.

Kobe running the offense from the post? Weird. I don't really think that's what really happening much. Kobe is extremely efficient in the post. NO doubt about that. But Kobe can't run the offense from the post when you have Dwight and Pau in the post. Makes no sense.

Pau hasn't been in the post for 3 years.

Calderon to Detroit or Dallas in exchange for Tayshaun Prince or Vince Carter

Haven't looked into the cap situations for each of those teams, but I thought all 4 of those teams were over the cap. How does Memphis get away with sending Gay's $16 M contract to Toronto and only taking back Davis' $2 M, when they're moving Calderon for another big contract?

Edit: First tweet I read wasn't clear. But Calderon is moved from Toronto to Det or Dal, but Prince or Carter are going to Memphis.
I can't believe Toronto just traded away ont of the top players in the league under 25 (Davis) for one of the most overpaid. </sarcasm>

                    Ahem.

Unfortunately I missed the game. Only caught the highlights. Saw Kobe dribble the clock out with about 24 seconds left and down 2, only to take a 1-on-3 drive and miss, leaving teammates wide open. Even if he had made the basket, Suns would have had last ball.

But hey, sometimes he'll finish 3 of 4 with a couple of assists.

And, it's too bad, but I'm guessing there is no way Dwights shoulder really heals untill he gets a full off season. Shoulders suck.

Again, Kobe has played that way his entire career. 5 rings.

                        Jacob is a smart man.

Howard leaves with aggravated shoulder injury. Kobe has 10 FGAs and 7 assists through the first 3 quarters, then 7 FGAs and 0 assists in the 4th.
