Could it be that the Spurs dynasty has officially ended? 4 titles in 10 years, 9 straight years of not losing in the first round. 12 straight 50 win seasons. Is it over?

Part of me thinks that Duncan and Parker proved that they still have a lot left. In the series if you throw out game 3 where he only played 14 minutes in a blow out loss Duncan averaged 25 and 12 while shooting 55% from the floor. Parker averaged 28, 5 boards and 7 assists while shooting 55% from the floor. The problem is the Spurs have always been a team that has relied on bench players to step up come playoff time. This year nobody stepped up.

If they can revamp the bench and add a guy like Rasheed Wallace for the mid-level they will have enough to make one more run at this thing.

A bench of: Drew Gooden, Matt Bonner, George Hill, Kurt Thomas and Roger Mason is good enough.

A starting 5 of: Duncan, Rasheed Wallace, Michael Finley, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker is also solid.

Maybe this is all wishful thinking and they need to blow the whole thing up, I am not entirely sure.

I think the Spurs owe it to TD to revamp for one more push. Duncan has been a long time fav of mine, despite his constant whinning to the refs. He is near the point in his career where one would expect a drop-off in his numbers.

As my in-laws are all HUGE Laker fans, I only hope that the Spurs make some big changes and make a go for it. This 1st round loss has got to sting, and I would assume that they will pull the trigger some changes.

I feel the right thing to do would be to trade him to Utah straight up for Boozer. Okay the Jazz will throw in Harpring also.

As someone that has gone through this twice in his lifetime, let me spare you the heartache: the dynasty is over.

And yes, it was a very nice dynastic run.

But it is over. You are a good fan and are in denial, just as I was...twice. But I recognize the symptoms. Downward trajectory, injuries are more common, everyone getting older each year.

Go into next season with low expectations and then be pleasantly surprised. But don't kid yourself. This team is way more than a tweak away.

Parker and Duncan had a nice series, actually. And they only managed to win 1 game. Ginobli is a difference maker, but not a 4 game difference maker. The Mavs made the Spurs look pretty old in this series.

As a disclaimer, I have always had great respect for the Spurs. They had some epic battles with the Lakers over the past 9 years, yet they never did anything that made me dislike them. They were simply workmanlike in their approach to the game. Win or lose, they never said much. They were a good team.

Exactly how I feel. They were a worthy adversary. Beating them was an accomplishment because they were Champions. Unlike the Jazz.

I think the run is over. Much like Detroit's relevance in the East is done, I think we'll see some 6th-8th playoff seeds with one and dones until Timmy retires and then a few bad seasons until the come back. Unless, they do something drastic like trade TD and restock the cabinet with young talent and picks.

I am saying that the Spurs are always near the bottom of the league in regards to free throws attempted.

Oberto, Bowen and Ginobili were all tied for 31st in the NBA in drawing offensive fouls.

Parker does hit the floor a lot but he is also top 3 in the NBA in regards to points in the paint at 6'2 180 pounds it is hard not to hit the deck. I agree that both him and Ginobili do flop but that is how the NBA is now.

It is no worse then Kobe securing a rebound and having a guy swipe at it. If the guy hits Kobe but no foul is called, Kobe will then turn and look at the ref and give him "the look" (you know the one your Mom gives you when you are about to get in trouble for something) the next time down the floor the ref will call the first ticky tack thing he sees so he doesnt piss Kobe off.

Kobe Bryant is another reason. I'd rather watch the Spurs flop than Kobe play. In fact, when Kobe finally leaves basketball for good, I will consider watching the NBA again. Until then, nope.
