Most lopsided NBA Trade this season

has to be Billups to Detroit for AI. With Billups, Denver has had a pretty good season. With AI, Detroit is in jeopardy of not making the playoffs.

Granted, Detroit's end of the deal also is built around freeing up cap space this summer when AI's deal expires... but the move has definitely hurt them this season, and has been exactly what Denver needed.

I was not prepared for the unmitigated disaster that has been this AI stint in Detroit. Not only unproductive, but much of the time injured and unable to play. When he is able to play, he is coming off the bench and disgruntled. Not exactly what the Pistons had in mind, I am pretty sure.

I actually dont think the Pistons care. I think they wanted to put butts in the seats (AI has done that) and get him off the books after this year to save money. They realized with the emergence of Boston, Cleveland and ORlando their run as Eastern Conference runner ups is over. They are going ot blow the whole thing up.

I think you are right. Fire sale. A team can only have one Dennis Rodman, Rasheed Wallace or AI and have things work, IF, you have the good veteran guys to keep that in check. Billups was a huge piece of that puzzle. I son't think Detroit thought this would be the magical re-emergence of Allen Iverson/Marbury/Francis.

In conjunction, I think the next biggest disappointment for Detroit has to be Rodney Stuckey. I think after his playoffs they had hoped by moving billups he could emerge with more minutes. I haven't watched Detroit closely, but I don't think that has been the case.

Yeah, and it makes the Gasol trade from last year seem downright equitable for the Grizzlies by comparison if performance is the only thing looked at.

In reality, it was Detroit putting themselves in a position in 2010 to grab a Bosh or Wade. Although, I can't recall how long Billups' contract went for. If Rasheed is also off the books next year, Detroit will be a major player. One would have to think that a guy like Wade would take a minor paycut to continue living in Miami as opposed to some place like Detroit.

Judging by what the Lakers had to give up last year to land Pau, it's too bad they still don't have Travis Knight to offer to the Grizzlies for Marc.

Stuckey's minutes are getting yanked around due to AI. Once the AI cancer leaves detroit he will improve.

As for the trade Detroit wasnt going win with Billups... why not roll the dice with AI? It didnt work but at least now you have cap space.
