That's sad. FWIW, I think he does a great job.

Interestingly, it says that Salty does a much better job. I find that hard to believe (having only watched him for one season), and I'm a big Saltalamacchia fan.

Yes, a well-known fact. Also, the Steve Bartman documentary showed that baseball fans are either nerds or maladjusted weirdos or both. The two lawyers who wrote some 60 page treatise on whether the play was fan interference provided prime examples.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

We need a "Summon Il Padrino Ute" image.

Baseball is like wine and art. Philistines need not even bother.

Varitek wears the 'C', and that goes a long ways. I thought Saltalamacchia played well this year in the 10 or 15 games I saw on TV. That Lavarnway kid hit those two jacks in the penultimate game, which was pretty cool, but he killed the team in the last game (0 for 5, 0 for 4 with RISP). He went to Yale, though. Must be pretty smart.

It'll be interesting to see what they do this offseason.

[I include the"Lavarnway went to Yale" line to justify it being in this thread]
