Wingspan at those camps was 7'. Not long.Originally posted by Jacob View PostHmm. He didn't look it standing next to the other Centers. We'll see tomorrow whether he has long arms, etc.
I suppose all that info could be wrong, though. Not sure who gets to see measurements from those camps. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

DX says he measured 6'10" with shoes and a 7'1" span last year at the Hoop Summit.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostWingspan at those camps was 7'. Not long.

Kanter would be a decent pairing with Hibbert.

Supposedly Jimmer's measurements.Gery Woelfel: Jimmer Fredette`s first interview was with Bucks Wed. night. The BYU pt guard measured at 6-0 3-4 without shoes, 6-2 1-2 with. about 5 hours agoSo Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

So which is preferable: 6'11" with 7', or 6'10" with 7'1".
Where would you like to have that extra inch? :condom:So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I was having this conversation at lunch with a co-worker. I'd much rather have Jimmer at 12 than Knight at 3.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostWhat I convinced myself of today: I'm not necessarily opposed to the Jazz drafting Jimmer at 12.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

Congrats to Trent Plaisted, who was a starter on the team that just won the Lithuanian league championships. He was matched up against the team of draft prospect Jonus Valanciunus (just turned 19).
Plaisted averaged 6 and 4 in 16 minutes during league play with 0.3 blocks
Valanciunus averaged 11.5 and 7.3 in 21 min with 1.8 blocks.
Here are their stats from the 5 games series:
Game 5: Plaisted put up 2 and 4 in 17 min. Valanciunus put up 11 and 10 in 26.
Game 4: 6 and 1 for Trent; 4 and 2 for Jonas.
Game 3: 2 nad 1 for Trent; 12 and 5 for Jonas.
Game 2: Trent missed the game; 11 and 6 for for Jonas
Game 1: 2 and 6 for Trent; 2 and 1 for Jonas
Valanciunus was essentially a no-show in 2 games, but showed well in the others.
I've compared him to Trent here only because: 1) the BYU connection, but 2) to show that Jonas is probably better right now, and he would have been a freshman in college this year. Trent is 6 years older, about the same hight, and more athletic. I don't know how much they guarded each other during the series, but they both played Center for their teams.
Valanciunus looks to be a very good rebounder and active defender at worst. With a good frame to build on and nice touch. If any of the top 5 euros slip to 12, I'd be pleased with the pick, unless they never came over.
At one year older than Jonas is now, Trent averaged 13.6 and 7 at BYU as a redshirt frosh. Jonas put up similar numbers this year (in significantly fewer minutes played) against superior competition in the Lithuanian league. Since Trent didn't make it in the NBA, the comparison probably stinks.
I heard Chad Ford say that his big concern is that Jonas doesn't seem to have an elite skill to point to. He's not a bad athlete, and does several things well. I think that's a valid concern. The guys at Draft Express still think he's the best big man prospect in the draft.

I'm just not sure what we'd do with him. 3rd string PG for his rookie season, I guess, and then maybe works his way into the backup role in a year or two?Originally posted by Donuthole View PostI was having this conversation at lunch with a co-worker. You might as well have had that conversation with yourself. Your co-worker doesn't know basketball.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostI was having this conversation at lunch with a co-worker. Harris is the only PG under contract. I think what you propose is a likely scenario, while the best case has him earning a starting role in a couple of years and the worst case is not much different from what you propose.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI'm just not sure what we'd do with him. 3rd string PG for his rookie season, I guess, and then maybe works his way into the backup role in a year or two?
