  • What did DX's last tweet refer to, what trade rumor?

    DraftExpress
Cannot believe Sacramento is legitimately considering taking on Richard Jefferson's awful contract AND giving up the #7 pick. Terrible trade

Tony Parker. SA trying to include Jefferson, of course. But is Parker a FA?

        3. The Jazz remain silent about their decision at No. 3. But for the first time in a week, signals are starting to emerge that Kanter might be the pick here -- if the Wolves don't take him.

The Jazz are facing a classic dilemma. They think Kanter would be the best prospect available but feel a greater need at the point guard position. However, it appears the Jazz may go ahead and draft talent over need and hope they can land a point guard, like Jimmer Fredette, at No. 12. If the Wolves take Kanter at No. 2, then the Jazz would snatch up Williams at No. 3.
That bolded part is a strange statement. As several here have mentioned, the Jazz are really solid with Harris and Watson as a backup. Sure, the Jazz are overloaded with undersized or non defensive bigs, and Kanter looks like more of the same, but Memo is a goner and Jefferson has only a few more years. When Kanter is ready to step up in 2-3 years, the Jazz will have a big need for him.

Still, these last minute rumors are sucking me in again.

Isn't Watson a free agent? Hoopshype says he's not under contract.

Jazz really do need to just draft the best player. I don't see why the urgency to get a PG now. If they think Kanter is the better player, they should draft him over Knight. The Jazz could certainly be in the lottery again next year and could address PG next year. It isn't like Harris is terrible and he has a couple years left on his deal.

@DraftExpress No, I'm totally for serious. Kanter at number 2. Write it in. In pen. And not those crappy erasable pens.

If you're an NBA player and you haven't been rumored to Minnesota for the No. 2 pick, you're insulted, right?

@kpelton Some weren't offered so I had to call. I can confirm Miami won't trade LeBron for the second pick.

I was going to draft Jimmer with the 2nd pick, but I'm worried he'd stay in Utah for 2 years.

              • 2. The Wolves continue to debate between Derrick Williams and Enes Kanter at No. 2. However, it appears that Williams still holds a slight edge there despite the fact that the Wolves are beginning to tell teams they're taking Kanter. While I do think the Wolves are strongly considering Kanter, I think the fact that the news has gone public is an attempt by Minnesota to see if Kanter generates more trade interest than Derrick Williams did.
I suspect that he's correct, but dang it would be awesome if they passed on Williams.

Plus the Golden State pick. There's no reason to get frantic about a PG if they believe another player is a better prospect.

                  • Where do y'all want Jimmer to end up? It seems like there are five possibilities:

                    Sacramento
                    Utah
                    New York
                    Phoenix
                    Indiana

I would hate to see Jimmer end up in Sacramento. I think the other four teams all have some virtues to them. The fans in Utah will love him -- unless and until he starts sucking. D'Antoni's system will make Jimmer look good and Jimmer will be on the biggest stage. Jimmer could learn under Nash in Phoenix. Indiana has a need for a PG and they actually have some decent players on the roster and they have a good coach.

I want Jimmer to go to the Knicks. If he ends up being good, he will be loved. I think a guy like Jimmer would thrive in the New York media market. It would also be interesting to watch Jimmer play with Carmelo and Stoudemire. Those two guys would allow Jimmer to get a lot of open shots.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                    • The best part of Jimmer in New York would be playing for a coach who doesn't require apologies if you shoot it, no matter how much time is left on the shot clock.

                      • Growing up in Chicago with Jordan and the Bulls, I always hated the Knicks. I do not like Carmello and I do not like Amare.

It therefore pains me to say that I think the best situation for Jimmer may be in New York. I am kind of hoping he goes there.

With Curry and Ellis on the team?

Golden State is trying to get New York and Indiana to trade for the pick. Jimmer makes no sense at Golden State. The Jazz and Suns will be perfectly happy picking someone else, but I think both New York and Indiana want Jimmer. God willing, if Jimmer makes it past Sacramento, he should slip to the #11 pick and I think Indiana and New York will want to move ahead of the Jazz.
