Mallet would be my #1 pick. The kid had an almost coulda/woulda/shoulda year in losing to Alabama (dsepite controlling most of the game) and then losing to Auburn even though they put up 43 points but gave up 65. Mallet has a rocket for an arm, but unlike most rocket-armed QBs he also makes good reads and good decisions. He was a lot of fun to watch this past year.

I think #1 overall is going to be a bit of a reach. A huge reach, in fact. I do think that he'll be better than Ryan Leaf 2.0, though I'm not sure what his ceiling is. He's not athletic, but he has a cannon for an arm. I'd be stoked to have a shot at him in round 2, but in round 1... meh.

I guess we couldn't disagree more. I have never been very impressed with Mallet, and I feel like you can always count on him to throw a pick to lose a big game. Also, I think his arm strength is a bit overstated. He also seems to have an unathletic body type, which I think will make him injury prone. I'm selling on Mallet.

Agreed. Mallett might have a great arm....but to me at least he seems to be lacking the intangibles that a QB needs to lead a team.

I would not take Mallett. I don't think he's as big a dork as Leaf, but if he's drafted high enough to have to face the kind of scrutiny Leaf faced, he might be another Leaf.

As long as you know Dalton can throw well enough for your system, he's a can't-miss guy. But if your system requires a lot of tough throws he's probably not your guy. Very stable emotionally, very consistent, hard worker, etc.

I really like Gabbert. He's the best mix of tangibles and intangibles in the draft. I would take him if I were the Panthers.

Newton is the most interesting guy, obviously. Is he a total loser who's going to be dealing drugs out of the locker room and going to strip clubs every night? Is he an off-field liability who will still perform at a really high level like Big Ben? Is he just an immature kid who is going to settle down as his career goes along and become a hall of famer? I could see any of the above happening, although I tend to think he's more Big Ben than anything else. He appears to thrive on the controversy, which is actually a great trait for an NFL QB. I think he'll do well on the field in the NFL.

Patrick Peterson runs an unofficial 4.32 in his first attempt at the 40. Not the sub 4.3 he said he was going to run, but wow that is blistering fast.
