It was a tough thing for me. I kicked two calls in the fourth quarter and I impacted the game, and as an official you never want to do that. It left me with a lot of sleepless nights, and I think about it constantly. I'll go to my grave wishing that I'd been better ... I know that I did my best at that time, but it wasn't good enough ... When we make mistakes, you got to step up and own them. It's something that all officials have to deal with, but unfortunately when you have to deal with it in the Super Bowl it's difficult.

I really don't care for either team. But I hope the Steelers lose. Their fans are everywhere and are insufferable.

I don't dispute there are bad calls. Officials are human and make mistakes. It's part of the game. I'll admit I've been pretty pissed at times this year watching the Steelers getting flagged for legal hits. As long as it's an honest mistake, I think you just have to roll with it.

I hope the Steelers lose on a few honest mistake calls this Sunday. Then you can understand how it feels.

We will welcome you with open arms. And when you bitch about it we will link you to post #30 in this thread.

I guess I should feel more sorry for teams like the Seahawks. They blew their one and only chance they will ever get to win the Super Bowl. I still maintain that if you can't overcome a call or two, you're not good enough to be the champs. I wish the calls would have gone the other way because I'm about 99.99% sure the Steelers still would have won anyway. That's what champions do.

I have no idea if Pittsburgh will win this week. If they do, I'm sure I'll have to endure all the whining about the calls the Packers didn't get. All I know is you don't win six Super Bowls because of the refs. You do it because you have a great organization. If the Packers win, I won't be happy, but I promise I won't be blaming the refs. That kind of thing is reserved for teams that know they'll never get back. It's pathetic.

People forget the score was 21-10. It's not like it was a one point game.

I thought this was an interesting article on the importance of the QB and the playcaller being on the same page as to the game plan

                  http://packersnews.greenbaypressgaze...ence-on-season

also from the article the reactions of the Packer players when they found out they would be practicing at a high school indoor faciliy

Though the indoor facility is at a high school, McCarthy after the workout told the pool reporter covering the workout that it’s big enough to accommodate a normal practice. The pool report said the Packers players were wide-eyed about the facility, instead.

“The players rolled their eyes at first when I told them where we were going to work,” McCarthy said afterward. “I said, ‘Now, just hold on. This is Texas football.’ My daughter went to Lake Travis High School (in Austin), and their facilities are similar to this. I don’t think anybody was disappointed when they walked through the door."

I don't really care who wins as long I get these three squares on my office pool.

                      Steelers 6 Packers 4
                      Steelers 5 Packers 1
                      Steelers 2 Packers 8

Crappy draws. I am thinking the first two squares are my best shot.

I was listening to Doug Gottlieb today and he was talking about how guys that are around 20 right now think that Super Bowls are supposed to be or are usually very good games. For guys in their early to late 30s, we think we're lucky if we get a good game.

It's the frame of reference -- almost every single Super Bowl from the early 80s through the mid 90s sucked donkey balls.

                        84- Raiders blow out Redskins
85- Niners handily beat Dolphins (this was supposed to be an all-time great game, but it greatly disappointed)
86- Bears start running the Fridge at the goal line, the game sucked.
87- Denver keeps it close at the half but the Giants blow them out in the second half.
88- Timmy Smith becomes a one game wonder behind the Hogs and the Skins blow out the Broncos. He then proceeds to use his Super Bowl paycheck on blow (or something like that).
89- Finally a good game, one of the famous Super Bowls. Joe Montana leads an epic TD drive to beat the Bengals. I was 12 and it was the first good Super Bowl I'd ever seen.
90- Possibly the biggest blowout in Super Bowl history the Niners were at their peak.
91- A decent Super Bowl with an exciting ending. The Bills whiff on their only good Super Bowl chance.
92-94- This is when I learned to loath the Bills. Three awful Super Bowls in a row.
95- Different teams, same result -- the AFC is overmatched. Young and Rice are at their peaks.
96- A decent game actually and primarily because Barry Switzer didn't really know how to coach a professional team.
97- I missed this game, I was on my mission. From what I understand, it wasn't a total blowout, but it wasn't good either. I didn't care for the Packers because I thought Favre was a tool (who ended up having a very average to small tool).

That's 14 Super Bowls. I was 7 when the Raiders and Redskins played and was 20 when the Packers and Pats played. There was one legitimately great Super Bowl (89) one pretty good one (91) and one that was decent (96). The other 11 were awful.

Since then there have been 13 Super Bowls:

98- I was also on my mission for this one, but I had to go down and break the rules and buy a USA Today to read about it. A German guy in my ward called me early in the morning to tell me Denver had won. It was the first time an AFC team had won since the 84 Super Bowl. I didn't get to see it, but by all accounts this was a great one.
99- A snoozer. Denver kills the Falcons. Elway could have probably won a 3rd SB if he had stuck around
00- Another great game with the game coming down to a play where Dyson stopped inside the one yard line. A legitimate top 3 Super Bowl.
01- A cruddy game with two difficult to watch teams. That Ravens team bugged.
02- A great game, arguably the biggest upset besides Jets over Colts. The beginning of the Pats dynasty.
03- A crappy game. Jerry Rice could still bring it though. Dilfer and Brad Johnson were Super Bowl winning QBs.
04- Pats v. Panthers establishes a trend where every other Super Bowl is a great game. Unfortunately the game is overshadowed by Janet Jackson's disgusting nipple and accompanying Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome nipple apparatus.
05- Pats v. Eagles was a bit better than the 96 Dallas v. Pittsburgh game. It also provided a rational basis in the public's mind for Mike Shanahan to bench
McNabb in favor of Rex Grossman.
06- Pittsburgh v. Seahawks was somewhat close but was otherwise a miserable game I'll never want to watch again.
07- Bears v. Indy was fairly similar to the Pittsburgh v. Seahawks game from the year before -- a disturbing trend is developing...
08-...and utterly smashed when one the greatest Super Bowls ever takes place with the single greatest play (the Tyree helmet catch) and one of the biggest SB upsets occurs.
09- Another classic occurs with Arizona making a huge comeback, but Santonio Holmes makes a catch that is almost as cool as David Tyree's catch from the year before.
10- Three years and three great Super Bowls! Brees vs. Manning! And the balliest play in SB history takes place when NO onside kicks the ball to start the half.

                        13 Super Bowls, 7 classics (98, 00, 02, 04, 08, 09, 10). One decent game (05), and one hard to watch but still competitive game (06), and four snoozers (99, 01, 03, 07). I'll take 8 out of 13 as opposed to 3 out of 14.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I'm wearing yellow and black today to church, however I left my terrible towel in my office at work. I wonder if I have enough time to go get it.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. Someone that just moved to our ward said he wanted the STellers because he knew Korey Hall. Than said Hall was a good kid. Hall Was friends with his kid. He used to live in Glenns Ferry. Someone said they could care less. Could be they did not care about football or just the teams playing. I don't really have a favorite for this game myself. Still will watch it.

Last years game dvred it saw it in fraction of time. A decent game. On mission I was in Florida hard to not see game. 96 went from house to house and game was on. Tried to go in kitchen or stare away still saw a good share. Someone said Elder Vine you like football. Get inhere and I did. In Apopka Florida.

Palm Harbor some people thought it didn't start until 8 blessing for us. did visit less active family had it on. I saw Desomond Howards big run but not much else. Tried not to pay attention. On a mission much tv gets watched unintentionally.

You should be. If Green Bay scores on the first possession of the second half the game is over. If not, I could see it going down to the wire. Turnovers have been the difference so far. I think Green Bay should give a couple back to even things up.
