Shawn Marion to Toronto for Jermain Oneal. Good news for Toronto as Oneal sucks and they can unload Marion after this year. Miami gets an upgrade at Center but a huge contract. I wonder if Miami will have the money to sign Boozer now.

This puts Boozer squarely back in Jazzland. He was going to opt out this year, and Miami could have made a play, but now they won't have the cash for another year. They are setting themselves up for the '10 studs. If Boozer picks up his option and becomes a FA in '10, I doubt he'll be able to compete with other big names for big cash on the market.

Did you see the word "blockbuster" anywhere? It is a big trade for lots of purposes that were discussed above. Sorry that it didnt involve the Lakers, since I know that is all you pay attention to.

I hope Miami doesn't think this will be as succesfull as the last time that they signed a big name center with a large contract. Stupid move on Miami's end.

Tough to say. Booz made it clear earlier in the year that he planned on opting out, but obviously things have changed dramatically since then. Miami was one of the few teams set to have major $ this offseason since everyone else is gearing up for '10, and when you throw his injuries on top of the fact that Miami is no longer in the market, it's hard to see where he could turn up a substantial deal. Outside of Utah, anyway.

I have to agree...it was a done deal for Booz to opt out, but with his injuries lasting much longer than expected and now the Heat off of the market, I would actually be surprised to see him opt out. It will be an interesting off season.

I think Booz opts out because he doesnt want to compete with the other free agents in the Summer of 2010. (Which in my opinion wont be as big as people think, I bet a lot of the superstarts reup with their current teams)

2nd significant trade pretty much complete:

Tyson CHandler to Oklahoma City for Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox. Both expiring deals, this makes OKC better in the future. Gives NO money for the big free agent push of 2010. Imagine Chris Paul, David West and Dwyane Wade playing together.

I am calling that a blockbuster. Funny thing is you team up Marion and Amare in Toronto, that sure helped Phoenix, what is it going to take for them to get Nash back to Canada? Of course Bryan Colangelo is the GM up there. He must like first round playoff exits.
