I didn't expect to see Rinzel playing in Rockford this year. Seems like the right move though, as he has really struggled.

Bummer man, Bedard to the IR. I think we are going to see in the next couple of weeks how much impact his play has had on the Blackhawks. Also, I guess it is time to see what Lardis can do.

After the heartbreaker that I attended on Wednesday night against the Panthers, where they score the game winner with 50 seconds left, and the loss of Cooley for a while, things have been looking up for the Mammoth. They took it to Seattle on Friday night and had a 4-goal comeback against the Pens to win yesterday. Guenther is clutch in overtime. He won the game in OT for the 3rd time this season.

I think losing Cooley make it tough to stay in playoff contention, hopefully they don't fall too far behind while he is out. I'm hoping he is back after the Olympic break or sooner.

The way the Wild are playing right now and adding Quinn Hughes, the only shot in the Central is a wild card spot. I think those 2 wild card spots are going to be between the Mammoth, Jets, and Edmonton.

Bedard out already. Now Nazar out for 4 weeks. Blackhawks now are tied for fewest points. Looks like the Blackhawks will be adding another top 5 pick. Tynan Lawrence really fits the profile of the type of player that Davidson likes to draft.

We are about halfway through the season, and there are lots of teams within 10 points of last place--around 23 of the 32 teams. Only 2 teams within 10 points of the first place Avalanche.

With the injuries, the Blackhawks are likely to stay down there, but I bet there is a lot of movement on the back side of the season. It is really crazy how bunched up everyone is at the bottom.

Another crazy stat. The blues have a -33 Goal differential, and they are only one game below 500. Looks like they win close games but are often blown out.

It has been a weird season.

Also, the 3 best teams in the NHL are all in the Central division. It would be better for the Wild to slip to 4th in the division and be on the other side of the bracket. I think it is time to restructure the playoffs in the NHL. The second best and third best teams in the NHL are going to end up playing a first round game. The Avs are going to then get stuck playing the winner of that series in the second round.

I miss having the winter classic on New Year’s Day.

The Blackhawks now seem to be finding their footing without Bedard/Nazar. A couple wins over Dallas and now a win over Las Vegas. Bedard expected to be back by the start of the Olympics. It will be fun to see what happens when he is back. If the rest of the team continues to play well, Blackhawks might be able to make a run at one of the wild cards.

                    • Winter classic is going to be Mammoth/Avs next year at RES.

My son who is at the University of Utah just sent me of a video of the Jumbotron at RES with the details on it.

Good that they selected the correct stadium for the Winter Classic in Utah.

Another nice win by the Blackhawks without Bedard/Nazar. Bedard skated at the beginning of the the game against the Blues. Sounds like he could be back the next game even.

I'm guessing no alcohol sales was a no-go with LES. Would have been a beautiful backdrop though. It isn't too bad at RES either.

                          • Mammoth fans have started whistling at games. Mammoth players are annoyed about it and called it distracting.

                            • Has it happened at multiple games?

I was there Wednesday when they did it, I haven't heard it otherwise. Not sure why it started.

                              • There was a point in the season when Leo Carlsson was right up there with Bedard and Celebrini. Carlsson, Celebrini, and Bedard all were in the top 5 in scoring. Celebrini is still there. The incredible thing is how much Carlsson has fallen off. Bedard has been out for a few weeks and he still is ahead of Carlsson in points.

Bedard is back in the lineup tonight.
