I don't understand firing Marty Schottenheimer after going something like 13-3 or 14-2 and keeping Norv Turner around.

If the Niners are looking to hire Baalke, they're obviously not interested in hiring a premium GM. If hiring Mike Lombardi -- who may or may not be a great GM, but on the surface he appears better than Baalke -- means you get Harbaugh, then hire Lombardi.

It's about playoff wins. Turner has 3-4 playoff wins since he's been down there. Schottenheimer lost in the first round after going 14-2.

My guess is Alex Smith is in SD next season as a backup. He and Turner are still homies from their days in SF.

On the coaching front, reports are saying the Harbaugh/UM talks broke down over the weekend, so he's now the front-runner for the Niner's job. Reports are that if the Niners don't get Harbaugh, they're going after Jeff Fisher, who is expected to be released today.

Mike Holmgren says he's not a candidate for the Browns job, so I'm guessing he stays there as GM/Pres.

That's where the Yorks really effed up. They locked up Sing hours after the season ended last year and never gave themselves a chance to look at all the other candidates who entered the market, including those with ties to The Legacy, like Holmgren and Shanahan.

I know it was about playoff wins, but you don't fire Marty Schottenheimer just to replace him with Norv Turner. Turner is a fantastic OC and I was disappointed to see him leave the Niners. I think Alex Smith's career would have turned out differently if the Niners could have kept Turner around.

I'd be interested in Fisher if he is in fact let go. Not what I would expect, but I think he's one of the few proven guys I wouldn't mind landing.

Baalke, York and Harbaugh all met today. Following the tweet further it sounds like the meeting went well, and that they were leaving the meeting shaking hands giving Harbaugh encouragement saying "Bring us six" as in the sixth title.

I wouldnt be shocked if it happens tomorrow.

There are multiple reports that the Dolphins are set to offer Harbaugh a mind-bogglingly massive deal averaging $7M to $8M a year, which would possibly top Bill Belichick as the No. 1 deal among all NFL coaches.

Ross, who flew out from Florida, is due to meet with Harbaugh tomorrow morning.

The 49ers, according to an NFL source, are prepared to offer Harbaugh about $5M per over five years.

And if Harbaugh gets that mega-offer from Miami, the source said, the 49ers are unlikely to go dollar-for-dollar and would be prepared to move on from Harbaugh.

This should come to a head around noon tomorrow.

Ross wants to be the next Jerry Jones/Mark Cuban so he is willing to do whatever it takes to make a splash. However he still has not fired Sparano. Sounds like if Harbaugh declines their offer then Sparano gets another year.

Are people getting just a little caught up with Jim Harbaugh? Has he done anything to merit immediately becoming the most expensive coach in the league?

As it stands though, I don't like how things are developing in the Niners coaching search. Jeff Fisher looks like he's staying in Tennessee and now the Dolphins give Harbaugh some crazy ass offer.

McDaniels? Are you effing kidding me? Do the Niners want to run off Patrick Willis, Vernon Davis and Frank Gore or something?

Would Brian Billick really be that bad of an option?
