It looks like they won't even get the win tonight.Originally posted by Sizzle View PostAdios Candlestick. Unless, of course, somehow St. Louis can win next week and SF can take care of business. I'm not holding my breath.
For most of this season, I could swear Mark Sanchez is our QB and Gary Crowton is calling the plays.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

What an onsides kick!

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Wow. There's a reason Atlanta has four wins. Unbelievable.

Spectacular ending. What the hell were the Falcons doing in that final minute.
Greg Roman refused to let the offense get in a rhythm in the first half.
Vance McDonald is terrible. Tank Carradine couldn't come back a full year after his ACL injury last year. Patton, I believe, has maybe a couple catches this year. Lemonier filled in okay for Smith, but now he doesn't even get rotated in. So, basically we have to hope Lattimore pans out and Carradine can get back to full strength for the 2013 draft to not be almost a complete waste outside of Eric Reid.Part of it is based on academic grounds. You can tell Vance McDonald has the athletic abilities to be a player in the league. But the few times he has had an opportunity to make a play, he hasn't. He's been the biggest disappointment from this class IMO but that isn't to say he's a total bust or lost.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostSpectacular ending. Carradine and Lattinore are definitely wild card picks with both essentially red shirting this year.
Lemonier had looked like a competent player this year, so I don't know why you would write him off. I can't blame him not seeing the field behind Brooks and Smith, and he's contributed on Special teams.
Patton has been hurt all year so it's tough to truly judge there.
The other issue is the team is deep. I wouldn't expect a 3rd or 4th round pick to contribute on a team that just went to the Super Bowl and returned almost everyone. The one rookie they needed to count on has delivered and been one of the better rookies this year IMO. It'll be interesting seeing Carradine and Lattinore next year and what their roles may be.

I didn't get to watch the game yesterday and forgot to set the DVR. It was really, really nice seeing Quinton Patton make a contribution. The 2013 draft class might just work out afterall. Speaking of which, Gore has shown some flashes in the games prior to yesterday's, but he hit a career low (marginally) in yards per rush this year. That could have been due to constantly seeing eight men in the box due to the ineptitude of the receivers and the offensive coordinator. It will be interesting to see what the team does with Lattimore and Gore next year. Of course, I think they need to keep Gore around but I think next year might be that season where you see a RB just break down. It happens suddenly, but nevertheless there are signs prior to it and I think that could be the case with Gore.
I think we're going to see a RB committee with Gore, Lattimore and Hunter, but unfortunately Gore has a large-ish salary and I'm not sure how they're going to handle that.Part of it is based on academic grounds. The 49ers go 12-4 in the toughest division in the league. They've won 6 games in a row and are 4 points and probably two plays divides them from having won 13 in a row. On top of that they beat the team head to head that they're playing this weekend.
And for all of that, they have to play a road game against the 8-7-1 Packers where the high on Sunday is supposed to be 2 degrees.
The Saints having to travel to Seattle three years ago was total bullshit and this is almost as bad. There all kinds of sportswriters saying the same thing I'm saying -- give the division winners a playoff spot but don't automatically give them a home game. Reseed according to records and tiebreakers once the playoffs start.
Every single column on this includes numerous comments from the logically challenged. It's some variation of this -- "win your division and you don't have this problem." Well, sure, dumbass that works when the shitty Bears, Lions and Vikings are in your division. It doesn't work so well when the best team in the league is in your division and you might be the second best team. Just think about this -- if Ahmad Brooks isn't called for that hit against tiny, little Drew Brees, the 49ers get the #1 seed and the 13-3 Seahawks are the #5 seed traveling to -10 degree Lambeau. The Seahawks would have been four and a half games better than Green Bay (the 49ers are three and a half better).Part of it is based on academic grounds. Good hell, the city of Seattle needs to finally win something. Regular season titles just don't keep the trolling under control.Originally posted by Walter Sobchak View PostHow many sportswriters are saying what I'm saying, which is:

Being three and a half games better, sounds like they should have no problem handling the packers. :shrug:Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostThe 49ers go 12-4 in the toughest division in the league. The Michael Crabtree conundrum. Since he's been back, SF is undefeated. Does anyone think they beat Green Bay on Sunday if he was out? He was so critical to their success, Harbaugh calls him one of the best pass catches he's ever seen (although his drop rate since 2009 is 64th of 69 qualified receivers at 5.9%). The question is, what is he going to want with his new contract? My guess is to be paid like a top 5 receiver. Nobody is going to confuse him with Megatron. He's not as explosive as Dez Bryant. He's only had one season with more than 900 yards receiving, and he's been a little bit injury prone. But the 49ers have had horrible luck with other receivers (Mario Manningham? Randy Moss? Those were the good ones. AJ Jenkins? Jon Baldwin? Marlon Moore? Ricardo Lockette? Ugh) and like I said, the offense is clearly better when he plays than when he doesn't. What is he worth? Where does he rank in terms of priority free agents? Kaep has to be at the top, but after him? Aldon Smith is a difference maker, but Lemonier held his own yesterday when he was in there and Aldon was out. Crabs has to be #2 on the list, no?
