Let's get it on! I've got a feeling 19 years is gonna happen.

My prediction this year is McCutcheon will be gone by the all star break. Hopefully he lights it up enough to get 4 minor leaguers instead of just 3.

Hey, me too! Ok, not my very favorite, he was #2 behind Grace. Dude was a CF highlight reel.

When I was a kid I had about every Pirates season highlight video from the late 80-90s and had about every one memorized. Bob Walk was a big strong kid who could throw a ball through a brick wall and sometimes that's where he threw it! We work fast, throw strikes, and change speeds!

Franscisco Cabrera's single was on my dad's b-day. He calls it the darkest day of his life.

        PIRATES ARE IN FIRST PLACE!!!!!!

and it's AFTER the all-star break

Maybe, just maybe, the possibility of winning the division might keep the good players in Pittsburgh past the trade deadline.

          Nothing personal, Moliere.

My old man texted me tonight to tell me. He's positively thrill and thinking of making a pilgrimmage out to pnc to see the family brick.

Gracie, your Dad is probably pretty close to my age and would most likely understand my hatred for Pittsburgh, though he would give me a hard time about it. I can't say I blame him.

Like I told Moliere, it's nothing personal between the fans and me. But it is personal between that club and me.

You're still holding on to angst from the 70s? That was a long time ago. I was born in 79, and my pops always says that my b-day is a reminder that's it's been another year since the bucs last won a world series. Ha.

It's more than angst. I was 15 and it demolished me. Then, when the Orioles do win it all, I missed it because of the mission.

Hopefully, Pittsburgh will go another 30+ years.

Congratulations to the Pirates. If the Rockies can start winning website could have a clash of ROCKTOBER and BUCTOBER, the likes of which the world has never seen!

I don't want to jinx them by posting in this thread. Last year the Pirates almost did the unthinkable, which is be over .500 but a late season tanking took them back to familiar territory. This year they are 13 games over .500 and, if the season ended today, they'd be the wildcard in the playoffs. After 19 years of rebuilding it's amazing what a team can do.

My son wants to go to a Astros game so I told him to pick one. He looked up the schedule and saw the Pirates were in town next weekend so he picked the Saturday night game. It's good to know that, despite their past suckiness, I might actually leave a legacy of Pirates fans in my family.

FTR, I love this Pirates team. McCutcheon is sick and they have a serviceable pitching rotation. I don't expect them to do anything in the playoffs if they get there (they don't have the pitching to make noise) but at least they might play a couple games after the end of the regular season. Too bad the Astros move to the AL next year. I'll no longer be able to see the Pirates without traveling a great distance.

No bump to this thread yet? Moliere has dropped the ball.

Watched them beat the Ms at Safeco yesterday. My old man came up for the two-game set, and we'll be headed out to watch them in Pittsburgh late July.

                              18 or 19 games above .500. Crazy.

Tied the Cards last night for the best record in baseball. The 19 year streak ends this year!
