  • Pete Carroll to the Seahawks???

Seahawks fired Jim Mora today and are targetting Pete Carroll, who apparently is interested according to my man Mort.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

If that's true, SC football is done. Or Norm Chow is in.

The money better be for a helluva lot more because Carroll has one of the best two jobs in college football.

Who does SC hire if Carroll takes off?
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

They just had a blurb about this on ESPN. Carroll wants his OC to go with him.

            Nick Saban?

            They'd probably go for Sark.

Actually, now that I think about it, this year might have some teeth to it (as opposed to almost every other year).

                SANCTIONS.

Could it be that SC has been notified by the NCAA that sanctions are coming so Pete is jumping ship? Possible, esp in light of the OJ Mayo stuff.

Joe McKnight just declared for the draft, also, btw. I am sure totally unrelated...

I wonder what this will do to Lou Holtz's #3 pre-preseason ranking for USC. I mean, it was Lou Holtz so you know he studied a profound analysis first.

Not to slow this train down, but Mortensen has been wrong before.

And all this time I thought USC had a higher payroll than Seattle

Another culprit in these annual rumors re Uncle Pete is Uncle Pete, himself. He loves giving himself a raise and now that he is not the highest paid coach in college football, he probably feels like it is time to go back to the vault.

Either way....SC opens @ Hawaii and my wife and I will be there. Fun roadie!

Mortensen live on ESPN right now: multiple sources say Carroll is the coach, it's done, and that's why Mora was suddenly up and fired after only one season.

I wonder how this will work out. I've always thought Carroll was a better recruiter then coach. Like they say "it's not the x's and o's it's the jimmy's and joe's" and Pete gets a lot of talent. How will he do with just average talent.
