Indy ends the season on a two-game skid, after locking up the top seed. That means after next week's bye, they will not have won a game in four weeks.

Nola: same story but with a three-game skid and five weeks since a win.

Go Chargers. They're coming off a 13-day stretch where they won in Dallas (playoff team), beat Cincy (playoff team), and won on a short week at Tennessee, who had won 7 of 8.

I agree. The Chargers are red hot right now and I think they're going to be the team to beat. I like Philly and the Vikings out of the NFC.

That move last week and this by Caldwell is going to bite the Colts in the ass I think.

I don't know if any of you read ESPN the Magazine, but all season they have had an anonymous football player doing a story. This last issue he talked about how different the playoffs are than the regular season. He says it is so intense and the game speeds up so much it is unbelievable. He said the slowest play in the playoffs is far faster than the fastest play in the regular season. He didn't say Caldwell was an idiot, but he stated rest equals rust and that benching them at the half was worth a quarter of rust to shake out come playoffs and you can't afford to not come into the playoffs guns blazing from the start.

On a tangent, the last article this NFLer X wrote was about Tiger's situation. He said he was shocked the way Tiger has handled the situation. He said the NFL is all over these things. Each team has a Michael Clayton who cleans up the messes. If anything happens in the slightest they're supposed to call this guy and get their stories straight. He couldn't believe that a celeb with the stature and finances of Tiger didn't have some sort of catastrophe team to handle these kinds of things. It was very interesting to read.

There are several teams fighting for the wild card spots. Whoever the rusted Colts and Saints play in round two will have won the late-season fight and won their first round games. These scenarios reek of 1997 Denver, with John Elway crying in the post-game.

Indy didn't merely sit out these two games; they got mauled.

Had Philly won today, they would have been the 2 seed. Instead, they put up a goose egg and dropped all the way to the 6 seed.

Two of this afternoon's matchups will be replayed in next week's wild-card round: 5 Green Bay @ 4 Arizona, and 6 Philly @ 3 Dallas.

Meanwhile the Chargers second string just beat the Redskins starters. 11 straight wins for San Diego.

Add the Jets/Bengals to those who will play again next week. That has to be some kind of a record.

          Go Chargers!

...and KC's win means that the Skins get the 4th pick in the draft...whahooo! Our offseason is better than our regular season!

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

You have to wonder whether New England and Cincy both wanted the #4 seed to avoid playing San Diego in the second round. At the same time, Cincy didn't want to completely disrespect New York because they would play them next week if they lost.

There's a real chance that Baltimore could beat New England, especially with Welker out. Baltimore has seven losses, but five of those were by less than a TD and every one of the seven losses were to playoff teams. Baltimore also beat San Diego early in the year.

The Jets have a great defense and a very good running offense. I think they'll likely beat Cincy next week and give Indy all they can handle (Revis will shut down Reggie Wayne, Indy is already not a great running team and also has problems stopping the run- look at the Miami game).

I think San Diego comes out of the AFC, but I think their toughest game could be against Baltimore in the second round.

The NFC is a mess. I don't believe in the Packers. I haven't watched them in awhile, but that offensive line was a disaster. The Saints have faded down the stretch. The Vikings and Cowboys have Brad Childress and Wade Phillips as their coaches. The one team I thought was going to be the frontrunner got destroyed by Dallas yesterday and is going to have to play the same team at the same location next week. That leaves the Cards who finished the regular season the exact same way they finished it last year. But again, the Cards are loaded on offense and run the ball better than they did last year. They also have some athletes on defense.

I suppose it comes down to matchups. I think the Cards are going to beat the Pack this week despite getting destroyed yesterday by the same team. The Cards had nothing to play for and they gave up that game. Dallas is going to beat Philly again. That leaves the Cards at the Saints and Dallas at the Vikings. I think the Cards can and will beat the Saints. As for the other game, that's a toss-up. If Dallas wins, then Dallas will beat the Cards the following week. If the Vikes win, the Cards will beat them the following week (the Cards beat the Vikings handily earlier in the year).

                  Yikes.

I think Jason Campbell could be a decent QB if he didn't have a different system to learn every year.

If Gerald McCoy is available (a huge if, since Detroit has a need at this position), then pairing him up with Haynesworth along with Orakpo coming off the edge would be pretty nasty. Spend the rest of the draft on o-linemen.

EDIT: Jason Campbell is a free agent. The Redskins probably won't resign him. So they will be looking for a QB. I think Jimmy Clausen is the best QB in the draft. Bradford is damaged goods and never played in a pro-style offense.

The NFL playoffs have been full of parity in recent years. Last year, three of the top four seeds were upset at home in their first games, and both 6 seeds played in the conference championships. The year before, 5 seed New York beat the top two seeds on the road, then beat undefeated New England. And in 2006, the 6 seed won the Super Bowl (Pittsburgh).

Man I'd love to see a top 12 in college football.

I could really see Baltimore going far this year. New England is hobbled and Indy will be rusty the following week. B-More also beat San Diego earlier in the year.

I can't see Philly beating Dallas this next week.

Because of th uncapped year, he is a Redstricted FA...which means that the Redskins will have to tender him an offer of some kind, and it also means that they will receive compensation if someone else signs him.

Braylon Edwards sucks. That guy has Ted Ginn Jr. hands.

The Jets can run and have a good defense. And if Mark Sanchez plays like he did today they have a chance.
