Who will break the Sixers 9-73 record?

I don't want to jinx it, but we have 3 interesting contenders this season.

Through approximately 11 games (1/8th of the season), the following teams are on pace with a legitimate shot:

1. New York Knicks: 1-9
2. Minnesota T-wolves: 1-10
3. New Jersey Nets: 0-11

The Washington Wizards are 2-7, but they don't seem to have what it takes to stay focused and go the distance.

This thread is going to be a season-long celebration of futility. Much like when members of the 72 Dolphins get together and drink champagne to celebrate the elimination of the last undefeated NFL team each season.....I will be rooting for these 3 teams each night to continue their historic march towards immortal ineptitude.

Let's go Knicks, Nets, and T-Wolves! You can't do it!

I think the Wolves have the best chance. Their roster is a mess with mismatched players all over the place.

The Nets are getting Devin Harris back and Brook Lopez is too good not to be able to carry them to a few wins.

The Knicks also are awful, but their style of play will pick them up a few cheap W's.

I appreciate the comments. Please keep in mind that I would like to keep this thread free of negative vibes that distract from the goal. These teams need our support if they are going to hit this elusive target of 8 or fewer wins. Let's focus on that which these teams do poorly. Let's be vocal in our desires for them to not win games and our belief that they can find ways to lose.

Indeed there are a wealth of riches for all 3 teams in this respect.

In particular, I like the T"wolves team 3-point filed goal percentage of .267. They will be able to shoot themselves of many if not most games with aplomb.

The sad thing is that the Knicks and Nets are in the same division, so they will play eachother probably 4 times and someone has to win those games. The NBA needs flex scheduling for situations like this.

I didn't even consider that. This is horrible news.

By way of update, I have some more bad news.

Last night, the Knicks seemed totally disinterested in the task at hand and wasted a perfect opportunity to pick up an easy loss. They were uncharacteristically focused late in the 4th quarter and played their way to a W on the road against Indiana.

Unfortunately, this pushes them off the pace with a record of 2-9.

Conversely, Minnesota and New Jersey took care of business last night, with both teams posting impressive losses.

T-Wolves: 1-11
Nets: 0-12

I would like the the T'Wolves move if they didn't have the Jazz on their schedule 4 times this year. This is going to hurt their chances of a record breaking season.

Kudos to all 3 of our candidates.

The Nets are clearly starting to come together as a unit, as they have extended their streak to 14 losses in a row. At 0-14, they are definitely on pace to break this record. As I watched highlights last night from their game against Denver, I could sense that this is something they all want....several players airballed shots, played no defense, and didn't attempt to grab rebounds. This is shaping up to be a special team. This current road trip will tell us a lot about whether the Nets are serious about challenging for the record.

The Wolves are 1-13 and also look like strong contenders. They are hosting Denver tonight and I am hopeful that they will bring their usual energy and focus.

I am a bit more concerned about the Knicks. At 3-11, they are unpredictable and you can never know which team will show up. They looked really good in their loss to the Lakers last night, but will that carry over tonight against an awful Sacramento team? I can easily imagine the Knicks making shots and winning the game tonight if they are not careful.

The Nets roll through Sacto this week, as well. I am really nervous that the Kings are going to play spoiler for both teams this week. The Knicks/Kings matchup tonight is going to be key.

Nets are on a rampage right now, tearing through team after team, city by city. They are taking no prisoners....back-to-backs, road games, home games...it doesn't matter.

Also, extra kudos for firing the head coach....almost always the harbinger of a successful season and a potentially critical move in this season's bid for immortality.

As we approach the 25% mark of the season, the Nets are looking VERY respectable, with an 0-17 start thanks to tonight's hard-fought blowout loss to the Lakers.

T-Wolves are slipping a bit. 2-15 is nice but they could be doing much better with a little more desire. They had no business beating Denver on the road in an embarrassing win tonight.

New York has stepped it up recently, going winless and remaining at 3-14.
