What is wrong with the Hornets? It's like the Jazz and New Orleans are mirror images of each other, which is odd now that I think about it.

Undersized help down low.

Not many great shooters.

David West and Carlos Boozer are both serviceable, but not especially gifted, power forwards. They do well with their abilities but will never lead a team to a championship.

Just read the excerpts from Donaghy. It's always hard to tell what you should believe when a guy is in extreme CYA mode, but everything in there is so easy to believe, if not patently obvious to anyone that has watched the NBA over the last couple of decades.

During the offseason, the Lakers essentially swapped a roleplayer (Trevor Ariza) for a former All-Star (Ron Artest). Currently, one of them is averaging the following line:

23.5 PPG, 50% FGP, 52% 3P%, 3.7 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.6 SPG.

The other is averaging the following line:

8.3 PPG, 32% FGP, 23% 3P%, 5 RPG, 3.7 APG, 1.0 SPG. Think that second line belongs to Ariza? Think again.

Ariza wouldn't put up those numbers in LA. He's the first option with TMac and Yao out. Artest would have that same line had he stayed in Houston. Now he's the 4th option. When Pau comes back, he'll be the 5th option. The same as what Ariza was and would be.

yes, I know. I was simply pointing out that such a stat line isn't shocking at all. In fact, it is exactly what was expected. This is what happens when you cut and paste from a blog with the word "awful" in the name.

Last season, if I am not mistaken, when Artest could launch as many shots as he wanted, didn't he rank pretty high in 3pt FG%? He was definitely higher than Ariza.

Also, I am happy for Ariza. I think most Lakers fans are happy for him. He had his chance to stay but he played his cards poorly. So he can enjoy Houston and once May rolls around, he can fly back home to LA and watch the Lakers games in the stands with everyone else.
