Hayward can do everything in terms of filling up a boxscore from the wing and he plays above average defense. Having said that, he can't have anymore 40/30 seasons shooting the ball. When you are so bad shooting, it pretty much negates everything else you're doing unless you are elite in a signficant area.I'm like LeBron James.

Hayward's true value is a question that I'm not sure I have an answer to this year. How much is he worth? How much should the Jazz pay? And how much is too much to match? I think anything above $12M per year is too much, but the flip side of the coin becomes what the Jazz are able to do with the salary that they save by not paying Hayward. Probably not getting as much value out of it, so maybe it makes sense to spend $1M more than you're comfortable with on Hayward as opposed to getting less with only a slight savings.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostWas listening to some of Lindsey's comments again. Don't know if it is sad or comical, but to hear him say that it is "premature" to decide how Favors and Kanter work together because we just haven't seen enough of it...maybe next year will be the magical year where that determination is finally made.
I thought it was interesting that Lindsey said he really likes players who can pass, and that he thinks Hayward is one of the top passing wings in the league.
Players in the $9.5 to $10M range include:
Splitter
Gerald Wallace
Gallinari
Tyreke
DeRozen
Millsap
Steph Curry (is there a better contract in the NBA right now, assuming his ankles hold up?)
Players in the $10.5M to $11.5M range:
Javale McGee
Ty Lawson
Joakim Noah
Nic Batum
Richard Jefferson
Players in the $11.5M to $12.5M range:
Andrea Bargnani
Rajon Rondo
Al Horford
Kris Humphries
Pekovic
Ibaka
David West
Kevin Garnett
Players in the $12.5M to $13.5M range:
Tony Parker
Nene
Ben Gordon
Al Jefferson
Iggy
Josh Smith
Looking at that list, you almost have to slot him in the $10.5 to $11.5M range being generous. After the $13.5 M category, you start to get into players like Harden ($13.7M), Hibbert ($14.3), Kevin Love ($14.7) which is well past Hayward, I believe.
Full breakdown is here:

To me this is more a matter of age than anything. Even if they played every single minute together this year, any conclusion still would have been premature.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostWas listening to some of Lindsey's comments again. I think I'll tweet that Corbin will be fired next week. Everyone will think I'm connected.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI don't know much about Mitch Lawrence of the NY Daily News, but...

Don't say fired, because then no one will think you're connected. Say "not retained" or "not re-signed."Originally posted by wapiti View PostI think I'll tweet that Corbin will be fired next week. By winning today's coin flip we have guaranteed ourselves no chance at getting the top pick.

My money is on Lionel Hollins. He's not my preferred choice, but he's the guy I think the Jazz will choose.I'm like LeBron James.

I do not believe that the Jazz are going to go with a guy with head coaching experience at the NBA level. I honestly think it's one of Longabardi, Jones or Jensen.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostMy money is on Lionel Hollins. Can't see Hollins and Lindsey seeing eye to eye on how to do things. Maybe they would feel comfortable with Lindsey building the team, and then think someone like Hollins is what's needed to get the most out of the guys currently on the roster.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostMy money is on Lionel Hollins. To me it seems the young talent already on board, picks, and good cap situation for the near future should be a pretty solid draw. I think they can make a hire with more cachet than Hollins.

I'd be happy with Fizdale from Miami. Getting someone like that as the head coach in SLC could help players forget it is freezing and boring to live here.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostRead quite a bit about Longabardi this weekend and I'm majorly on the bandwagon. At this point if it's anyone but this guy I'm going to be disappointed.

Granted, I'm a worrier by nature, but as this drags on, I'm starting to think Corbin will be retained.

Nah. When is his contract up? Probably just dragging it out to avoid a "firing."Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostGranted, I'm a worrier by nature, but as this drags on, I'm starting to think Corbin will be retained.
