I'm sorry, but for a penalty with such serious consequences, I fail to see how it can be considered cheating or poor sportsmanship. Just as in pellegrino's example or perhaps an intentional PI in the end zone on the last play of a football game, it's a case of a player doing whatever is necessary to preserve a chance to win. The difference being, in the basketball or football scenario, the penalty for committing the foul isn't nearly as severe as it is in soccer. Had Gyan buried the penalty shot, nobody would be saying it might be poor sportsmanship or cheating.

Sucks that Uruguay is now without it's second best player, but it beats going home.
I agree with this. He took one for the team. I think the fouling out and PI analogies are correct. Poor sportsmanship would be if he had hit someone instead of the ball.

Here's hoping for a Netherlands - Spain final. I don't want any former champions winning. We need some new blood to hoist the Copa for all to see.

That's too bad for Uruguay, it looks like that goal was offsides. Even so, I hope the score stands.

Me too. The Dutch have put in there time in the World Cup and deserve to be champions. I hope this is their year.

I like the Dutch because a few of them seem to have the same hairline as me.

Oddly enough, I like them for the same reason. I'm glad i'm not the only one who notices this type of stuff.

I like the Dutch because they speak English.

                        Go English-speaking countries!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

ATDHE.Net not working for me. Do you click once and wait for it to open, like you're in a queue? Or if it doesn't work to you exit the window and keep clicking for a new window?

Working now. It seems every game I've tried to watch it takes me about 15-20 minutes to get in. Is it because others are connecting that are in a queue ahead of me?
