Beck is starting Friday against the Colts.

It's his job to lose according to the Washington post. Mike Shanahan is impressed with him and he apparently doesn't impress easily. Should be interesting to see what happens given how well Grossman played out of the gate on Friday.

The consensus around here seems to be that no matter who starts, you already know what Rexy brings to the table, so why not start Beck?

As you pointed out to me, that may not be true. Beck needs to make it look easy like Rex did last week. Here's hoping he stuns us with his brilliance.

Notes: Third-year RB James Davis(notes), a mysterious no-show at Monday’s practice, was placed on the reserve/left squad list. “I’m still looking for him,” Shanahan said jokingly. “He went from missing in action to a prisoner of war, so I’m not exactly sure where he’s at.” More seriously, Shanahan said Davis left the team in the middle of the night—“his roommate said his clothes were gone”—and apparently returned home to Georgia. The coach said he thinks Davis is retiring from football. A posting on Davis’ Twitter account promises details to come: “Please do not believe everything you (hear) people. The story will be released soon. The real truth of the story.”

What was reported here was that he was pissed about not getting any playing time and that he walked out of a film session on Sunday and never came back...including practice on Monday. The Redskins released him yesterday.

I really want Beck to look good tomorrow night.

The guy is turning 30 already so if he is ever going to be a legitimate starting NFL QB this is his chance. There won't be any more chances like this.

Looks like JBeck went 14/17, 140 yards passing. No TDs or INTs but he led the Redskins to 16 first half points. Not bad.

Grossman came in and threw an INT. Went 7/12, 88 yards.

Probably good news for Beck's chances at starting. Looks like the game will be replayed at 2 PM on Sunday on NFL Network.

I saw most of it and he looked good. They rolled him out a lot and he threw a couple sidearm passes but they still had good zip and were accurate. He had a nice drive that stalled on the 5 yard line when the Oline failed to give him any time on a pass play.

I've always wondered if Beck would hit his stride after a couple years in the league similar to what happened in college. Hopefully he gets a chance and makes the most of it.

They did a really good job of play calling and execution tonight. The Redskins achilies heel continues to be the red zone...they ended up with 3 FGs and a TD on 4 trips. Beck looked really good, made quick decisions, was accurate, was smart with the ball, delivered it on point and really moved the offense well.

The job is going to be his, I don't even think it's much of a question at this point, it's now just a matter of whether or not he hangs on to it.

I just saw the highlights and I'm kind of bummed he didn't get a touchdown with that first pass he threw. So close there. Just wish the TE could have gotten another foot or so.

Didnt see the game, but saw Mark Schlereth's take on Beck, and he praised Beck's performance.

They did get him out of the pocket quite a bit with play action but he also showed a ton of poise by hanging in the pocket especially on one play where Mathis was about to kill him. He stood there and delivered a side arm strike. He also showed his ability to run. Most importantly he made the right decision on every play. I am sure they'll open some things up for him as time goes on.

Right, shades of last year in the red zone. I tend to think the issue is still personnel but I agree that Beck did look very good last night. Clearly his job now.

I know this is incredibly premature, but I would really enjoy seeing Beck lead the Redskins to victory at Miami in November.
