Is there a more entertaining spectator sport than college women's volleyball?
It is inside so sucky weather has no impact (why yes I am older than 50 now). Almost every rally has obvious examples of hustle, athleticism and skill. The matches usually end in 2 hours and if they go longer than 2 hours then it is a highly competitive, close and exciting match. Unlike the mens game it isn't overpowering so long and exciting rallies are the norm. Money has yet to ruin the landscape or the spectator experience.
Besides that mormons are disproportionately upper middle class, and thus provide a bevy of great volleyball players, and there is yet to be an arms race in college volleyball that the LDS Church, and most of its followers, find distasteful so BYU is willing to finance and compete in women's volleyball as much as the big time programs.
