It is inside so sucky weather has no impact (why yes I am older than 50 now). Almost every rally has obvious examples of hustle, athleticism and skill. The matches usually end in 2 hours and if they go longer than 2 hours then it is a highly competitive, close and exciting match. Unlike the mens game it isn't overpowering so long and exciting rallies are the norm. Money has yet to ruin the landscape or the spectator experience.

Besides that mormons are disproportionately upper middle class, and thus provide a bevy of great volleyball players, and there is yet to be an arms race in college volleyball that the LDS Church, and most of its followers, find distasteful so BYU is willing to finance and compete in women's volleyball as much as the big time programs.

    That is like a win-win-win!
It really is fun to watch. Women's soccer is fun too. Women's basketball not so much.

9 and 3-0....bown bicha bown bown!

I don't think 9 and 3-0 mean anything, but anything to make Clark Addison feel young again!

Every year I think "man, we can't afford to lose _______." and every year, Heather reloads.

Some thoughts on this year's team:

          * Livington is not Grey, or Jones-Perry, but she's better than Ballard-Nixon.
          * Little is a pleasant surprise, but she definitely makes a few freshman mistakes.
          * Sounds like Callahan is on a mission.
          * The new transfer libero from Univ. of Arizona is better than I anticipated, particularly her digging.
          * I freaking love Whitney Burton, but coming off of injury, I think she's setting worse than the last two years. But hot dog, she can't be taller than 5'6" or 5'7" and when she gets a solid block, it makes me happy for short-ish volleball players everywhere.
          * Mia Lee is playing MB better than I anticipated.
          * Kate Prior can shut down the opponent's OH. If she can figure out her offense on the right side, I think she'll be really, really good this year.

Also, our boy Pelagius is really active on college volleyball message boards, which makes me happy for him, but a little sad for us.

                No tv for this game?

Little came up big at the end of set 3. Erin Livingston Seagull has apparently mastered the art of teleportation because she is everywhere in the 4th. #boatrace

I'm pretty sure every match is on ESPN+, there hasn't been a volleyball or soccer game I couldn't get there. I'm curious if Jarom will be the ESPN announcer at home conference games? He's a goofy dude, but he's the best volleyball play by play announcer I've seen. I wish they'd put him and Steve together for the women's games, they make a great team.

Yeah, men's broadcasts are great. Steve is an amazing color guy. I remember on time he said that when he was a player he was serving and he kept targeting some poor guy on the other team who couldn't handle any of his serves so he got several aces in a row. Finally the coach of the other team subbed out the guy and he went to the bench. On the next serve, Steve served it over to the bench and hit the guy. Steve said the BYU coach was furious with him but he couldn't resist.

He is insufferable. If he's good, it is only because he's now spent 4-5x more time than any human on the planet calling volleyball games in the English language. Amy is the best in the biz.
