How long does your daily ride typically take you? Much variation or is it pretty consistent?Originally posted by OceanBlue View Post20 miler. Cloudy and light rain. I got out on the mountain bike, but as I was riding to the singletrack, I saw a parked bullet bike on the road and a guy in his 20s looking through the weeds. It turned out his wallet had fallen somehow and all his cards & IDs had spilled all over. I helped him for 15 minutes, and a couple of other guys stopped to help, too. He found most of his stuff, except for his school ID and Social Security card. (Why would anyone carry their ss card full-time?) I finally continued on my ride and was rewarded with a bad snakebite flat going down a rocky section with about 200 yards to go before reaching pavement. Maybe the reward was that the flat didn't come earlier?

18 miles with my wife today. On the way back a guy passed me like I was standing still going up a hill. The guy didn't look like your typical cyclist, shorts , no helmet, baseball hat on backwards. I kicked it in a top of hill leaving wife behind and trying to redeem myself. It was a major effort trying to catch this guy. During one stretch I hit 24.5 mph which for me is very fast. I finally caught him but he was right behind me and after a mile he passes me again. This went on for a total of four miles and I passed with a half mile to go thinking I had the win. As I passed him I said "first one to the airport wins". He passed me with about twenty yards to go and got the win. I had more fun racing this guy then I've had since I've started biking four months ago. I might bike again this afternoon.Last edited by OceanBlue; 09-29-2014, 10:59 AM.

I'm not implying anything, OB, but if a stranger started racing me while I was just out riding, I'd think he was kind of a douche. But this seems to happen a lot in your parts, so maybe it's a culture thing.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Must be because it happens all the time. On my second ride tonight a guy chased after me but couldn't keep up. I was packing up my bike into my car and he pulled up and said he has seen me out riding and was just trying to keep up. I invited him to ride with my buddy from our ward on Saturday mornings.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostI'm not implying anything, OB, but if a stranger started racing me while I was just out riding, I'd think he was kind of a douche.
