Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

    • I am firmly now in the camp of not caring whether the series in football or basketball continues. Yeah, I would be excited about a game if it happened, but it isn't worth it with all the drama Utah has brought lately. Let them think they are bigger than the rivalry and let's not prove them right.

Dave Rose is taking the right stance, but that stance will ensure that the game isn't going to be played for a long time. I'd prefer the Utes take those terms, but they aren't going to.

I will miss kicking BYU's ass in basketball. It is a shame it won't be happening anytime soon. I guess I'll just have to enjoy beating BYU in football every year.
kicking byus ass? lol. We arent in the 90s

Unfortunately, I don't think the fake doctor on the hill has any intent of ever playing in Provo again. I don't think anything will be agreed to under the current cast of characters. It could easily be at least ten years before the two teams play again in the regular season.
There is no chance Dr. Hill is Utah's AD for another 10 years. He's in his mid-60's now, I am betting he retires in a year or two. I think the pressure from big donors will have the series start up again in 2-3 years. That's kind of what happened in football.

I'm pretty sure that's how this one will go. It could be shorter but it depends on the next AD hire and how long Krysafteyak is around. The wildcard is the state legislature.

With MD/G-Town there were plenty of neutral site games, but John Thompson and Gary Williams really dug their heels in on it, which Rose and Larry will certainly do.

Great....In basketball, BYU has delivered more ass kickings (129 to be exact) than Utah has (128).

Also the best coach in Utah history (Fat Majerus) didn't even have a winning record during his stay against Roger effing Reid.

On top of that, Dave Rose is something like 12-4 against Utah.

So yeah we pretty much own them.

                    • It will be fun to make a couple good tourney runs over the next three years while Utah struggles to make the dance with Kry's scheduling philosophy in rebuilding years. Will also be nice not to have a depleted Utah team dragging down our resume.

Dave Rose? Are you serious? He owes his job to Jimmer, who was an accident, a two-star recruit. Serendipity. What has Dave Rose done with all those ESPN 100 guys he keeps bagging? He's done fuckola. He's a terrible coach; his defense is laughable. He can't even get respectable in the WCC. Lol. Utah literally has the most tainted NCAA championship of all time. I am sure you remember tuning in on your transistor radio and listening to the games.

Utah played in the NIT first, (the NIT which is where all the good schools played during that time) and they lost in the first round!!!

After an accident killed several Arkansas players and a coach, the NCAA needed another team for the junior tournament. None of the big boys cared to play in a consolation tournament. They reluctantly asked Utah if they would fill in Arkansas spot and the utes end up winning it, becoming the 9th best team in the country and probably throwing a parade.

Keep claiming that title though. Seriously it's a big deal.

Don't forget that because of WWII most universities didn't field teams.

Utah played the NIT winner after both tournaments, and beat NIT champion St Johns.

Utah also won the NIT tournament in 1947, which SU failed to include on the list. BYU won it 4 years later in 1951.
