BYU doesn't need that football game. It doesn't have problems getting good opponents in early September.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

    • Twitter has been funny. K/Hill just handed BYU fans years worth of material and the reactions/spinning/angst from ute fans have been hilarious.

Last year when Utah come down to the MC, the place was packed. Sellout crowd in a huge arena. BYU crowd was intense and lots of red in the audience. We had a fun chat with Hot Lunch before the game. We also unveiled the SeattleUte fat-head in the BYU student section (and SU was a great sport about it). Really fun, amazing atmosphere. This year, we went to the BYU/Utah game at the HC. Same thing: sellout crowd, fantastic intensity. Utah fans were good to us and in spite of the loss, it was a fun experience and we looked forward to doing it again. These two thin-skinned knuckleheads have destroyed that. A ton of fans on both sides will now miss out on a fantastic sports experience. That is a damn shame.
Totally agree with everything, except that GoMo had a good take on anything.

        Great post!

        • It seems that Larry is well aware that he will lose Poeltl, Loveridge, Taylor, and Tucker after this season. He is going to dumb down the schedule again and doesn't want to play a game at the Marriot Center they will lose.

Just imagine the conversation as they concocted this silly plan.

I assume this is hyperbole. BYU's situation has not gotten worse over the same time. I believe BYU's football situation has improved in the big picture. Maybe not access to NY6 games or playoff, but lets be real. These would be unlikely anyway. At worse the Basketball situation has stayed the same. The MWC was an incredible basketball league when BYU was in it but it is nothing special right now.

              • I have nothing to add other than saying that if you're going to chicken out, you need a better excuse. And I've enjoyed following this train wreck.

No. It has gotten worse and worse!

I looked up the definition of oxymoron and that was the example that was used.

Poorly written as usual, but his main point was right. Blind squirrels, broken clocks, yada yada.

How many single sentence/sentence fragment paragraphs did he have in his column this time. Is he still striking that 1986 Miller's Outpost levis ad pose?
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

No, we don't. There's plenty of other games. If I had to choose between the two, I'd choose football.

And when interviewed about that game just a few years ago, he called it "just a good, old-fashioned basketball game."
