Congrats, you managed to come up with an even stupider explanation than the one Utah gave for cancelling the game.Originally posted by kccougar View PostI know I've never seen a coach directly address an opposing player on the court before. I've seen them yell at the refs for something a player does. I've seen them turn and say something to the opposing coach. But I've never seen one go after a player before (other than Alford calling Tavernari an A-hole - great company, Krystkowiak). Larry thinks he's still playing and can't keep himself above the fray. He's probably scared what he will do if he shows his face in the Marriott Center again with the student section giving him the business for 40 minutes straight. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

I didn't say it. Krystkowiak did. He doesn't trust himself in the rivalry.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostCongrats, you managed to come up with an even stupider explanation than the one Utah gave for cancelling the game."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. If nothing else, this issue has become an excellent barometer for judging Utah fans. I have several neighbors and friends that cheer for the Utes. Most have been absolutely silent on the cancelling of the series, even the ones that were vocal about their displeasure of having to play in the Vegas Bowl. The most ardent Ute fan neighbor I know who typically trades some sort of BYU or Utah small talk with me each time I see him actually just gave me a very sheepish look on Sunday and didn't say a word. The few who have said anything have parroted Larry Krystkowiak's lines but without any real heart in it when talking in person. There seems to be a very clear line between the Utah fans and the BYU haters. Convenient, if you aren't sure what kind of a fan you are dealing with, just ask them about Utah's decision to cancel the rivalry and you'll find out pretty quick."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. Someone posted this earlier, but I cant find it (was it you?) I agree-- this works with all of my ute friends and my husband's ute friends. My husband refuses to talk about it and neither will my nieces. (whew)Originally posted by kccougar View PostIf nothing else, this issue has become an excellent barometer for judging Utah fans. Coach Kry can only give the finger to BYU once. Now that it is done, whenever (if ever) the series starts up again, Utah will look like the weak one. In the intervening years of no play, cries of Koward, Krybaby and Pussy and Safety First will always triumph "we won." Every time.
But I'm almost over it. It's yesterday's shame. BYU basketball has such a bright future ahead of it. Mika's almost back. And if Rose ever felt like retiring, this has got to inspire him to take his golden recruits to new heights and then rub it in on the hill.

All of you should be ashamed of yourself. I might have because I first thought it last week seeing the difference in posts between places like Utefans.net and Utahby5 (in some instances). It was brought home for certain after Sunday when I interacted with my Ute fan neighbors at church.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostSomeone posted this earlier, but I cant find it (was it you?) Another realization I had last night after reading Mark Durrant's open letter to Larry Krystkowiak. I finally understand all the Utah fans say that the rivalry doesn't matter - they've moved past it. Mark Durrant talked about his connection to the rivalry going back 40 years or more. The rivalry means something to him, win or lose. But that really is different for Utah fans. When the bulk of your fan base bought their first Utah sweatshirt in 2008 or their first Pac12 window sticker in 2011 the rivalry really doesn't mean that much."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12.
